I found a good product for painting the side panels on the GS, the finish came out good.

The appearance is good and it's textured enough for grip with your knees on the sides. Next up, I'm planning on doing the rear rack due to the paint rubbing off under my BMW soft bag.
Pictures below and as soon as the sides are fully cured I'll take a few pics on the GS.

How did you prep the aluminum prior to painting?

I just cleaned it up with window cleaner and roughed up the surface with a little sandpaper by hand.
I actually followed the directions, applied two main coats about 1 hour apart and a final coat 5 minutes after the second to give it the textured appearance and feel.
The nice thing about this paint is that you can respray any time to cover marks and it looks good as new.
Total work time spent was about 1 hour.

Looks real nice. I may have to copy that idea. My side panels are looking pretty rough. I've got Tech Spec on there now but when that wears out think I'll try the Krylon:)

Looks good.. I'd be curious to hear how the finish wears after you've had it on for a while.

It survived a Death Valley trip in great shape!

OK the side panels worked so well I painted the rear rack. The original paint had worn off in many places from the 51 liter BMW bag I use.
Please excuse the dirty GS, but then again it looks best that way. :D

You've given me a good idea. I'm gonna use that stuff to paint my scratched and rusty center stand.

ACE is the place......
Been to Ace, AutoZone, Lowes, Home Freak Show, Discount Auto Parts and Wally World.
I'll see if the Guy at the local Ace can order it in for me.
Thanks!
