I've been looking @ the R1200GSA & was wondering with the large tank, fairing & cylinder jugs, how this bike compared to the K1200LT, as far as rain & wind protection goes?

Is there any chance the 2008 will have a cruise control option?

What about the old school boxer twin, any upgrades for this engine due to epa requirements and what date will that be?

The protection is very good, but not as good as an LT.

No cruise on the 08's.

I have a 2002 LT and a 2004 GS Adventure. The LT has far more protection from the elements in my opinion. I am looking into fitting an AeroFlow shield and a McCruise electronic speed control on my GSA to make an improvement in long distance comfort.

Just recently my LT was sold. I have an '07 Adventure AND an '06 R1150GS Adventure (there were some brought into the U.S. and they overlapped with the '06 R1200GS Adv).

First, my LT with the Cee Bailey screen with wings best. The R12 Adventure much, much better than the 1150. But, the R1200GS Adv has good enough protection to be considered a very strong 'touring bike'. The McCruise cruise control a nice addition btw. With regards to the 'right' bike. Hell, I'll admit it...I'm a poseur. I love Adventure's looks and ride; so far my Adventure riding has been my front lawn and a lame/kinda dirt fire road.

That being said, the LT is the supreme 'couch', but after a while I felt old (sorry, but I am old at 67) riding it!

My R1200GS Adventure has less wind protection than the LT but it's not bad at all.

The LT has much superior protection from the wind and rain. The GS will splatter you with mud and road grime unless you add some aftermarket splash guards to the rear wheel well and in front of your foot pegs.
