I have been craving some of that Doogers chowder in Long Beach Wa. The weather report seems pretty good for Sunday. Anybody up for a ride?

I have a CVI meeting in Gig Harbor at 9:00AM at the Flotation Device Pub. Any time after 11:00AM would probably work for me.

Where/when do you want to meet?
I just put my bike back together, so assuming no issues come up, I'm game

Sorry you can't make it Ernie, My plan as it stands now would be to leave the Tacoma area around 8:45am. I know its a little early but backroad route takes a little extra time. We have always met at Doogers around 12:30pm. That way we can make it home at or before darkness when the horned rats come out. Jim, It would be nice to see you again and hear about your adventures from last year. Larry, We could meet at southsound.

Darn it!!!
I haven't had good chowder since I moved from Washington. We used to make runs down to Mo's in Depot Bay pretty regular, is Doogers better (as hard as that would be for me to believe :D )?

What time frame do you think you will be at Doogers? If things wrap up early I might be able to meet everyone down there.

Maybe we can make it up there as well! Really in need of a ride so Art & I were thinking about a Sunday ride also. We shall see how it goes.
12:30 at Doogers should work fine for most folks I'm sure.

Jerry,
I have not had MO's chowder yet, But I have heard lots of good things about them. I do know that Doogers has the best chowder I have eaten and I have tried a few. One thing I know for sure is that Doogers has the HOSTESS WITH THE MOSTESS.....
Sounds like we are starting to get quite the NW reunion going. Is Jeff in town, How about Darrel and Clayton?

Thanks Brian,
I found a plastic tub of Mo's Clam Chowder in a grocery store down here a couple of years ago and thought I had died and gone to heaven till I got it home and cooked it (after raving about it for years to my wife) and it was horrible. Nothing like the stuff we stood in line for over an hour to get in Depot Bay. I am riding up to Kennewick in May, might have to swing over and give Doogers a shot. ;)

Great seeing everyone and enjoying some good chowder! The ride back was in beautiful sunshine. We only saw a little snow by the side of the road. John would have missed it, however. It looked a little like the shape of a deer. :histerica
Let us know how the chowder kit turns out Brian. Get some well deserved rest.

Those of us who don't have to be back at work at 11:00 tonight took our time getting home. Just got in about an hour ago after Art & I had a great ride down 101 to Tillamook, then across the hill on Hwy 6, where we did see some of that white stuff! But thankfully it wasn't on the road, and it wasn't shaped like a deer!
Really enjoyed the get together, the chowder, and the girls who handled our table today. So Brian, did she really toss in the "Chowder to go" kit?

Great ride today and the chowder was tops a usual. Thanks Brian for getting the ball rolling. Pleasure meeting Larry, Jim and Bill. I don't know that we could have flustered our waitress - she was way ahead of us all the way.
On a sad note, Dan passed a perfectly good and open Dairy Queen in Longview whilst in the lead of our return trip. Can't figure that one out. A 300 mile day in January was a blast.

Thought about you buddy.

Sounds like a great time was had by all! Not to mention great food, great friends and great service (and a DQ stop!). Sorry I had to miss but it came down to removing furniture from our office rental house and getting it ready for the new renter or having my trip to Phoenix next weekend to ride and be a tour guide for a friend from Portland in jeopardy. Hard to pass up a chance to ride in 70 degree weather this time of year!
Hope to catch you all on the next one.

It was a fun day and the company was entertaining to say the least. I don't think that we have had a waitress that was more accomodating. In fact, the entire staff was fun. I was the only one that did not order chowder and was a bit disappointed in the elf size portion of halibut.
But we had 2 folks get some extra chowder and Brian scored a free chowder kit.
It is good to see that there wasn't any mishaps for anyone going home. That ends the weekend very nicely.
By the way for anyone that is interested in that chowder kit here is the info:
Chowder Kit
Our kit includes a 51 oz can of clams, 5 oz of potatoes, and all the spices. Available for $15 plus UPS shipping. All you do is add 1 quart of half and half, and 1 cup of heavy cream. Call us at 503-436-2225.
Brian will have to give a critique after he gets around to fixing it.

Actually Denny, isn't the correct Brian terminology the "Hostess with the mostest"? And I am sure that Brian will agree that ours really was deserving of that title after the service we received! Especially the guy who got the kit thrown in!

At first I was bummed out that our hostess with the mostess was not in attendance. But our waitress came thru and earned the title "waitress with the mostess" the old fashioned way. With plain old fantastic service. It maybe a week or two before I get to the chowder. Last night at work I did not have dinner and a coworker gave me his progresso clam clam chowder.(I always wanted to try it since its a costco item) Well, trust me, You do not want to eat that crap! Never again for me. I do have one serving left of Ivars clam chowder. Ivars is to good to throw away but not nearly as good as the Doogers. I am looking foward to trying out the kit and will post my opinion asap. The evening of our ride I was only able to get one hour of sleep. So, that made one hour out of 48! The next day I slept for 14 hours yee haa. Hopefully my new airbox comes in this week so I can get the BBS out of my GT.Also have a look at the brake light that came on. I have not had the chance to look at it yet myself. I am waiting till my dealer service is done before I add all the farkles I have accumulated in the last few months. Then I will be ready for some serious riding... I have to make up for a measly 17k from last year.
