Pictures taken today, early morning along Clifton Road, Va of the Occoquan Reservoir.

Ice, Fog, Life and Death

Trapped within the chill
Of an ice-locked watery grave
Dark remnants of trees
Thrust upward toward the clouds.

Fog-shrouded distant views
Chill mist formed of air
In that compact space
Where air and water meet.

I stopped once more
As often I do
I can’t resist the views
Nor would I wish to try.

Surrounded as we are
By all there is to see
The need to stop
Seems so self-evident to me.

Ice clouds float
On fields of blue
Inverted here
Another view.

Semi-ice water views
Reflections bursting through
Transitional edge of water-ice
Strange forms come bursting through

It seems so clear
From where I walk
We can not help
But stop.

But perhaps,
That’s just me?
