Currently I have the OEM BMW topbox on my 2007 GSA. My wife finds it very uncomfortable to ride in the pillion position because she says the hinges stab her in the back. I have looked at adding a pad to the top box but I haven't come up with a solution that works for her. Plan B is to just take off the top box and buy a backrest. I looked at the one being sold by Pirates Lair, but it looks like the configuration takes away alot of room in the sitting area and since my wife and I are both big people we need something that isn't going to limit our seating room. Any other ideas?

You might look at www.bestrestproducts.com and see if what they offer will help.

Try the Stealth Backrest from the Pirates lair. I got one for my RT.

I ordered an adjustable back rest from Best Products. It looks like it is an easy mount without alot of hassles. Thanks for the advice.
