I read in the paper this morning that beginning January 1 Connecticut is extending motor vehicle sales tax exemptions to any vehicle that gets 40MPG or more. This includes motorcycles. Considering that this will save a hefty 6% over the price of a new bike you can bet I started looking... So I spent the last hour or so researching estimates. EPA doesn't have them for bikes. Can't find anything on BMW's site either. Nor within the ct.gov web site... as a matter of fact I haven't been able to find anything anywhere that I think the government (and local MV dept) would care to use officially. Now I've been planning to purchase by the end of April and I'm seriously considering the r1200rt. 6% of that will easily top $1000. Yes indeed I want to keep that cash. Does anyone have an thoughts or ideas on how to approach this?
Here's the Courant's link to the article that I read: http://www.courant.com/news/local/hc-apnewlaws1231.artdec31,0,7334450.story
And here's the link to the ct.gov article that discusses the exemption:
