I am in the unfortunate position to stay in a valley where I rarely see a good sunset ... the sun sinks behind the mountains in the west quite early. So whenever I get the opportunity to shoot a sunset I go for it with gusto.

Great pic's I was just down at the beach trying out the new camera with some of those sunsets, amazing that everyone is different everyday. Now got go play with them in Lighroom.

Here's an attempt to mix 2 threads..

A pic from Tassie at Freycinet (wonderful spot), had the help of a little smoke haze in the distance drifting across the sun.

....and a first go at using my new Panasonic HDC-SD5 HD camera (its tiny!) and Sony Vegas Platinum to edit the AVCHD files it records onto SDHC cards.
The segway.... its also a sunset at Botany Bay that I was intrigued with the other night when almost home.. so scooted past the turnoff into my street and rode the extra 1km to La Perouse to catch this sunset and rainstorm..
Very impressed with Vegas, I'll be buying it as soon as the demo time ends.

@ gglove ... nice shot but a different crop might be better. The shot does look a bit soft to me. What camera and lense did you use ?

I would agree with your assessment. I used a point and shoot Canon Powershot 620.
I am moving from film, Canon Eos 620 to digital, now have a Canon 40D.
I would have posted some much better photos I have but they are very large files, that I need to process.
