I do believe you have to lower the pixel setting on your camera in the menu set up. I ran into that running an ad on Craigslist, and it solved my problem there. I have not figured out how to create the Avatar on this forum myself. I just recently was able to reconfigure my ACDsee program so I could access my pics.
If there is some other way of doing it, I would like to know that myself.
Hope that helps.

It's got nothing to do with camera settings. Your camera will not take a picture small enough for an avatar.
Instead, you need to resize the picture that you want to use so that it's smaller than 100x100 pixels. Almost every camera ships with a program that will do that. There are also several free image editing programs mentioned in this thread here: http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30747
Once you've downsized your image, you use the Custom Avatar function under the User CP to upload it to the server. You can see the User CP button on this page near the upper left hand corner.
BTW, this is probably a more appropriate thread for the Help forum. Perhaps a moderator will move it for us.

Try a free program called Pixresizer to make your photos any size you want.

I don't think an attached pic shows up in the 'preview' screen. Butt, if it's listed in the data below your 'preview screen', it should show up in the actual post. Hopefully, someone with more clue than me will jump on here and set 'us' straight. Congrats on the getting the Avatar posted. Looks good.

Thanks Dick...I am going to try it. If it posts right..it is funny. Will post under humor.
