I will make up my mind next Tuesday about purchasing the new RT and I really appreciate all the comments from my previous post. I will also take Coni's advice about test riding the '06 LT. But, until then, I am leaning toward the RT.

The LT has spoiled me so I am trying to get as many amenities as possible on the RT. The CB is perhaps the most used accessory when I ride. It is my understanding that the J & M system is not compatible with the autocom. I do not know the brand of the autocom that will be installed.

Do any of you folks have a CB radio installed on your RT? Is there a satisfactory method to install one. I really was hoping the J & M handlebar mount model would work but now am not sure.

Any help would be appreciated.

J & M does make a version of their handlebar mount CB that also has an intercom setup and a music input plug. The non-intercom version is a special unit they made up for use on an LT with the VOICE II intercom.

Their basic, all included version may work fine for you and save you a few bucks on the Autocom system.

My brother has the J&M intercom system (which includes the CB) on his '05 RT and it workes great. CBs on motorcycles with aftermarket intercoms are very difficult to eliminate the noise in the system. J&M is the only vendor I know of that actually makes one that works as an aftermarket add-on. Take not that other vendors of quality intercom systems such as Baehr and Autocom don't even advertise the use of a CB. A CB is inferior technology, but if you want to hear what's going on 'down the highway' it's your best choice.
