Here are some more pictures from the Ice storm.

This is just me and my neighbors.

It's gonna be a hell of a mess to clean up.

And a hell of a bonfire !

Geez John.... Hope you guys are ok... You got it worse than we did - We got lucky...

Started slowly melting here yesterday afternoon. Fortunately it didn't get below freezing last night and the rain today is helping also.

It is up to 34 now - woohoo!

You know, I'm starting to wonder about this.

About 8 years ago maybe, The band was on our way to Utah to play a gig and we got caught in the biggest snow storm Colorado had seen in 20 years.
Got as far as Colorado Springs. Holed up for a couple of days and then came home. They had to have the National Guard rescue folks on the highway.

This spring was supposedly a 100 year rain event. Over 50 inches in Oklahoma by end of June.

Now we've gotten the worse Ice Storm Oklahoma has ever experienced.
( As far as OG&E is concerned.) As of right now over 600,000 without power.

Guess I'm one of the lucky ones who was only down for one day.

I wonder what will happen next. Record Blizzard Hits Oklahoma ? More Floods ? We had big fires the last few years as well.

I don't remember any of the is kind of stuff happening when I was younger.
Yeah, we had some weather, but it seem there might be something to this global warming crap after all..

We hope this stuff melts off quickly for all of you who are affected. We had our big ice storm Valentine's Day this year. No power for a couple of days, and we lost several large, mature trees in our yard.

As far as your "what's next?" question -- A plague of locusts? Frogs? River turning to blood?

It's funny you picked up on that Howard, After the spring floods we had, I saw tree frogs for the first time here in my life. You'd just look up and find one stuck to a window somewhere. At one time we had three toads living in the garage. Just didn't seem to care about going outside. You'd try to shoo them out and they'd just crawl under something. Didn't care a bit about the outside. I'd leave the garage door open all day and they'd still be in there.
This summer and fall it was Crickets. More crickets than I have ever seen also in my life. We did have a plague of them .. You could look down into the lawn at any time day or night and see maybe 10 crickets in a square foot. It was and still is very freaky. I just killed another one of those bastiges a few minutes ago. They somehow get in through the doors when we open and close them.. Or else they're just crawling under. :) I'll not be any to sad to see the end of those little blankers.

We've been declared a disaster area 8 times this year. Another record.
And still I haven't seen a dime from Uncle Sammy.:(

Not that I'm whining. As far as I'm concerned, Except for the flood, Frogs, Crickets, Ice Storms, Cars breaking timing belts, Minor surgery going awry, It's been pretty smooth since the wedding.:histerica

Enjoy the photos. I'm going to try to work tomorrow and I'll have my camera with me and I'll try to take some more from various parts of town.

Later.

Good luck with the difficult time ahead.
I am a supervisor for PNM (Public Service Co. of New Mexico)
We sent 30 linemen out tuesday morning to Oklahoma to help with the 250,000 people out of power. We have been a member of the Mutual Assistance program for some time. I hope my crews can make the situation better for you and your city. If you happen to see my Line crew with PNM on the side of the door. please wish them a safe journey... :)

Hey Tom,

I used to get over there way back in the 80's when I was on the road.
There were some "nice" girls in the ALB area...:D Rode the tram a bunch of times.

I'll keep an eye out for them and let them know that I'm watching them for you..

I'll tell them you said they were a rowdy bunch and needed looking after...:)

Regarding global warming, always remember these two things --

(1) the computer forecast modeling being used to forecast what the temperature will be to tenth of a degree 100 years from now, is the same technology that they use when they can't tell you what the temperature will be tomorrow; AND

(2) for billions of years, the earth has shown a remarkably consistent 100,000 year cooling/heating cycle which takes it from ice age to a global heat peaks. IOW, starting at an ice age, the earth heats to a peak for 50,000 years, then cools back down to another ice age over another 50,000 years. The last ice age was 10,000 years ago. The earth is on a 40,000 year long warming cycle before it once again begins to cool. The earth is warming but Man has little to do with it. So spending billions to counteract it is ....

I just got power last night.

Was using camping equipment to cook.

Had water, and fireplace, so It was bearable.

Living room stayed 60-65 F, rest of house got down in low 50's/high 40's.

Hope this weekends snow storm doesn't hinder the people working so hard to get power on for everyone. Can't say enough about them. Keep them in thoughts and prayers.
