It's time for a new helmet. At the moment I have a love/hate relationship with an HJC Symax. I love the flip up design, but I absolutely hate the noise. The drumming wind noise in this things is absolutely intolerable and in fact is the reason I want to replace it. (It's actually a good bit noisier than a Scorpion 3/4 helmet I own.)

The next one is probably going to be a modular (flip up) and I've narrowed that down to two: the Nolan N102 and the Shoei Multitech. They both fit me fine, and all things being equal I think I'd prefer the Nolan due to the tinted flip down visor.

I can't get the dealer to let me out the door to "test ride" them so I'm looking for the voices of experience here.

Any N102 or Multitech owners care to share their views regarding those two lids, especially regarding noise and ventialtion?

N102... I love mine especially the tinted visor but....................................
with the visor on the outside, I cannot open the clear shield for air and keep the tinted visor down.....
Schubert has an inside visor and some others also..........
If this isn't a problem for you, Nolan is good.

I've had it for over a year and really do like the flip-up feature. I generally wear earplugs. I like the fit and don't have a problem with noise. This is my only full face helmet so I can't give you any comparisons. I would probably replace it with the same when the time comes. It does not seem to be too heavy and my longest ride has been about 850 miles with no complaints.

I had the Nolan 102. The flip down shade is great but I could not get this helmet to break in to be a comfortable fit. I now hove the Multitec. Fits my mellon perfect. Both have about the same wind noise and ventilation. It is what helmet fits you the best.

I had a Caberg that was falling apart and replaced it with another Caberg.
I found the best deals in England, even with the shipping charges.
It is a nice flip-up, and I love the sun shield as it is inside the shell and can be used with the face shield up. That is a great feature in hot weather!!!
I think I paid close to $360.00. Mind you that was back in Summer. Since then our dollar took a plunge...

If this isn't a problem for you, Nolan is good.+1 also. It fits my oval shaped head very well.

There was a thread here some time back in regards to a group buy on the Shoei Multitec. From what I've read, it is one of, if not the most quite modulars you can get.

For what it's worth, I just bought an extra helmet for no other reason than the price. I bought an HJC AC-12 (EL Diablo graphics) for 79.00 at newenough.com. It was a closeout but they still have some left and they have some other AC-12s at really good prices. They aren't flip fronts but for the price I couldn't turn it down
