I posted a short time back my experience with one of our local LEO's who had threatened to arrest me (for interfering in a MVA investigation for asking his name and why he was not documenting evidence), attempting to intimidate me, and then soon thereafter became the twsp police chief.

An update in tonights newspaper, it was uncovered that the police department was "forcing trucks to exit a major State road", into our twsp speed trap (listed on the Natl' Speed Trap Exchange) for DOT inspections, and "tickets indicated the money went to the twsp!" What a surprise.

Since the time I wrote about my incident, five police had been on the force and heavily ticketing the speed trap. Since this recent incident, there is just one full time LEO, one part time, the chief of police that had threatened me, has quit. Fortunately, I didn't waste any more time trying to deal with the twsp board of supervisors, who are in this waist deep, IMO. The police are following the orders of the twsp attorney/s that hire them, needless to say who is benefiting the most from these actions.

Another twsp officer had been dismissed for paying a young boy $2, to hit another boy in the head during a baseball game with a ball.

No offense to those LEO's that serve the public with honor!

Just a few good reasons why we need to "Question Authority!"

Few towns would be able to say they were more corrupt than New Rome, Ohio, a littlle burg on the west side of Columbus. 3 blocks and 60 residents made it the tiniest incorporated municipality in the state. Over $300k/year in ticket revenue. Many, many years of complaints about their 35+ member police force and corruption finally resulted in the state disbanding the little village. The tipping point was when a new mayor was elected (he got 6 votes) and the existing mayor and Council refused to recognize the new election and continued to meet in "executive session" late at night in undisclosed locations.

Long story short: google "new rome ohio" and you'll get an eyeful. The town was so infamous a web site was created: http://www.newromesucks.com/

Starke, FL on route 360. Have not been back there for 10 years, so I don't know if they are still that way. It is not just the fine, its what it does to your insurance costs.

That is what happens in these small towns. There was a small town near me where the Chief of police was selling guns taken in evidence to the bad guys again. He was arrested and I went to the academy with this guy. Few bad apples ruins the whole batch.

I ride through here (Ocala north to Jax via 301 & I-10) all the time and if you go the speed limit though these well marked speed trap areas, you won't be stopped. I get passes all the time and have seen many people pulled over. Guess they can't read all of the SPEED TRAP UP AHEAD SIGNS!
