Once you have, let us know the price. I have the distinct feeling that this will be more than *I* am willing to pay for this feature.

Playing Devils advocate here...what happens if you are in an accident or loose all power. Jaws of life would have a heck of a time getting through that.

Way Cool.
If I only had my car outfitted with them while dating  None of them would have got away!

Not to mention the safety concerns with loss of the B-pillar.

Not to mention the safety concerns with loss of the B-pillar.I think it's Mercedes that has a car with no "B" pillar. A new C-class auto, maybe. Of course, it's probably > $100k US.

I want that feature added to my Audi!:)Kind of what I was thinking. How cool would it be to pull up to <fill in the blank> and have the door disappear like that?
All of you guys who like to chew while you drive might have to re-think your routine, however. :D

I assume the Mercedes is designed that way.
I thought the video for the Disappearing Car Door specifically mentioned that they modified the car by removing the B-pillar. The video went on to assure the viewer that doing so did not create any problems with how the car looks.

I think it's a coupe. From the side, all you see is glass above the doors. Similar visual effect to the web site posted in this thread, but the Mercedes door operates traditionally.
The cars shown in the Disappearing Car Door video have been modified to gain this effect.

Cool concept though.

I take it you mean one of these (although my SLK has no 'B' pillars either).

I wonder how those would be on my f-150. It has rear seats, but I'd love better access.

It would be even kewler yet on Sandar the mag's Z-4. Ever try getting in and out of one of those thangs? To quote and illustrious ex-chairskin, Icepick, when he was looking at sportcars, "I had to be surgically removed".

You think the Z-4 is tough on the anatomy, yawta try gittin' in and out of the ole Thunderbird, with the top up. I should be chargin' an entertainment fee to them onlookers at the Daily Grind. ;) Got a round of applause one time! Gave 'em all the one-finger good-mornin' salute.
Man, folks musta been way small back in '55!!!

Ah, a Christmas gift idea for my friends S2000. fun to ride in, but a royal b**ch to get into when it's parked even remotely close to anyone else. I nearly threw my back out getting out after lunch last week.
