Why?!?!?!?!?!

That guy stopped being funny and entertaining twenty years ago. Why are they bringing him back now? Has CBS lost it?

He pulls an audience and generates revenue...the same reason for anyone being on the radio...

I'm not at all surprised.

It's not CBS, he is on Citadel and RFD-TV

This is what I like about this country: Any idiot (not that I agree that he is one) can voice his opinion and we, not the government decide if we listen or tune out. Free enterprise will determine if and in what format he stays on the air. If we tune out and his ratings go down, he either gets fired or has to change his format.

Seems like a great system to me...

How else can you explain those that would have you hold your hands to the radio speaker and pray!!! LOL!!!!!:rotf:

I guess enough people listen that they can sell lots of advertising. I've never listened to the guy, but more power to him if he can get back on the radio after all the flak he took from the libs and race baiters.

If you don't like him, change the channel. Ain't this a great country!!:)

Please reconsider this statement. It is the government/corporate controlled media that has molded your mind to think this way.

Just how does the government control what we hear on the Radio/TV ??

I only listen to AM radio for news and that is primarily conservative. I KNOW that ain't the government talkin'

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We don't think the same as you, so the "government/corporate controlled media" must have molded our minds. :rotf:

I tried to work in my garage Sunday morning, and could not find a radio station to listen to that did not have church services on, some of them just plain ridiculous to listen to. Talk about attempted mind molding! They just wish they could do so. If one's mind is open to "molding", there are so many ways it can be done, media is only one.

As has been stated several times in this thread, most media is driven by what brings in the bucks. If people don't listen (with the exception of the Sunday morning preaching) it will disappear. I doubt more than a very tiny fraction of any station's normal audience numbers are listening on Sunday morning, but the misguided little churches dig deep into their members pockets to pay for their air time. What a waste of their money.

I have to disagree with your thoughts on the Christian radio programs. They too have to sell advertising and get contributions from their radio listeners to stay on the air. Not really any different that any other radio program. I'm sure the Sunday morning air time is cheap, but it's still market driven.

Ted,

You answered your own question while also attempting to omit government involvement in your chosen media source.
In this instance your AM stations ideological alignment may be distorted because of your preconceived media bias. It appears the government promoted idea of , "liberal media" worked well in altering your listening expectations, so you know (with certainty) that, "that ain't the government talkin".

You actually think the government has somehow promoted the "liberal bias" of the main stream media?? I think you're nuts. I don't need Rush of Dr. Savage to tell me that the "drive by main stream media" has a liberal bias. I see and hear it for myself every time I turn on the evening "snooze" or open up my home town paper.

Now here is an example of government trying to meddle in what we hear. It's not gonna work because no one wants to listen to that shit. Again it's market driven. If they can't sell add time, there is no show.

Ted, if you think only the libs and race baiters objected to his stupid, classless remarks, you weren't paying attention. Sure, let him be on the air despite the fact that he is boring and a moron. There are always people who love to listen to his drivel. Go figure.

He has the right to say what he wants and we have to right to listen or turn it off. Again, it's a market driven system and it works well.

You comments are not on point and the content of his remarks are not what we're discussing here. Typical liberal argument. Change the subject when you can't make your point....

I think I made my point.
Do we really have to label each other, Ted? Or is it just easier for you to think in those simplistic terms/

Greg,

Do not feel bad. You're written communication is precise and coherent. Ted completely missed my point also and then simplified the discussion to an unproductive elementary level by resorting to comments like, "I think you're nuts".

Wow!!!!!!!

Not one member of this forum enjoys Imus....thats somewhat curious........Has anyone actually ever listened to him for more than a minute?

How about any working KNOWLEDGE of the Imus Ranch and how he and Dierde run it.

They take 10 children and PERSONALLY run the camp as to show kids who have been told what they can't do all their lives.....and prove to them what even cancer inflicted kids are capable of amazing things!!!!!!!

I CHALLENGE ANYONE ON THIS BOARD TO COME UP WITH A REALLY FAMOUS PERSON WHO SPENDS HIS?HER OFF TIME BETTER THAN IMUS????

I think the Imus Ranch may be excellent. And they are great people for running it. I really don't know, but I'll grant that as a possibility. But that does not make him or his show one bit more interesting or appealing.
There are other celebs that do good things for children and others. But since they don't talk about it on a radio show everyday, those deeds are not as well known.

Yes Mike,

I used to listen to him regularly, but like I said before, he stopped being funny, informative, or entertaining twenty years ago.

His Ranch is fantastic and what he and his wife do there is incredible, however, his on air personality (which is the topic here) has become a joke. He looses his train of thought in the middle of sentences, changes subjects which don't flow with the context or the person being interviewed and asks some of the stupidest questions. He should retire and stay on the farm, where he has proven he is still useful.

I have noticed the media, when they want to jump to his defense, always bring up the ranch too. They shy away from his radio personality, with the exception of talking about the Rutgers incident, and don't talk about his lapse in mental aptitude at all. The only good thing they can find to talk about is his ranch, which I totally agree with.

When I lived on Long Island he was still raising money to open the ranch...which he eventually did. The everyday talking is to fund it not to brag about it....He really does not seem to give a s&%#$ what anyone thinks of him. He does use his show to incessantly beat on subjects.....even if he knows it is "bad radio" e.g. Death benefit for our fallen Soldiers families was 10000.00
until Imus beat up every Senator,Congressman he could get to...now,I think it's 450,000.00
Or Autism or...well, you get my point.
While preparing to leave for work, when he was on MSNBC with choices like the Today Show,Good Morning America-nausea producing people who act like they really like each other, A morning wedding contest perhaps???
PLEASE!!!
I actually like the show and before his firing, the more candid responses from people that are usually stuffed shirts.
If anyone has read this far and has an I mac please share a way to get streaming radio on this machine!!!!! :D :D :D

I've listened to Imus for years and watched his show on MSN from the beginning. He's a good man who said something stupid. He's not a racist, but he is a victim of the race-baiting, poverty pimps.

Imus has often been a cruel-hearted, self-centered, jerk; and that part of his persona will probably break out of the box before long. You definitely need to watch/listen with a clicker in hand to shut him up when he turns mean or starts to promote all the "greening" junk or whatever he's obsessing on at the time.
He is also the best interviewer on air, getting stuffed shirts and blow hards to let their hair down, or embarrasing the hell out of them about their participation in waitress sandwiches.
His crew's pre-firing comedy sketches were excellent, but I suppose the "cardinal" and a good bit of the stuff with some racial overtones are gone, hopefully only for a while. Political correctness makes for some boring media. You do wonder whether Archie Bunker would make it today.
