Anybody used any kind of video editing software that they would recommend?

Microsoft's built-in video software in XP and Vista is pretty decent. You might want to start with that and then discover what other features you want before buying something.

I agree with LodiHal, Play with Microsoft to get some ideas of how things work with clipping, adding transitions and filters, and then burning to DVD's.

I use Liquid Edition, and have used Adobe Premier, you will just have to find what works for you and your puter speed.

I work with Mini DV, Hi 8, VHS, 8mm and Super 8 mm films. most things require something different.

I do a good amount of video editing and my two favorite programs for the money are Ulead Video Studio and Adobe Premier Elements (each is about $99). Most folks would never need anything more then one of those. My preferred choice is Adobe Premier Elements but Ulead has it's strengths too.
For anyone that got a copy of the Breckenridge video, that's what I used.

I second the use of Adobe PE - you can also find it bundled with Adobe Photoshop Elements, which makes a nice companion software for photo editing.

I've had great luck (and fun) with the Ulead Video Studio Pro.
Has good slide, movie and multi-track audio mixing. More than the applet you get with Vista.
