Is anyone interested in helping me with the 12000 mile service this weekend? I can come to your place or mine. I have a floor jack and some tools. I will have to drop by Bob's to purchase the 12k service kit. Thanks.

If I lived closer I'd be happy to give you hand. But you'd have to watch real close as I left, your bike might disappear. Right color and right year to replace my totaled one. :D

I hope someone chimes in here and helps you out. I didn't know much about my bike when I first bought it. Then went to a tech session in NC. Came home with so much knowledge about the bike. Since then did the valve check and changed air and fuel filter, since I didn't know when it was done last.

I'd come down and help if I wasn't busy all but one weekend out of every month and that isn't this weekend.

Check your rear shock for tension all the way to the top on your preload adjuster. If you don't have pressure, you will need to add some oil to it. Maybe you heard this already but it does wonders for handling.

Good luck! :)

Thanks Neil. I thought my shock felt peculiar.

Anyone interested next weekend, Dec 1st? In the DC area. I'd like to save the cash for presents!

I attended Kimo's 12k service party this past weekend. He had the fluids change including clutch and brakes. We pick up from there doing the air filter, fuel filter, valve adjustment, and canisterectomy. We got quite alot done before we stopped for lunch and cheered Navy on. His wife had made a hugh spread. It was difficult to go back to work while there was so much food left, but we did.

Getting ready to do the valve check. Needed 3 buckets.

Dave,

Thanks for all the help this past weekend! The bike continues to run great despite the gusty windy conditions. I'm ready to assist others now!

I hate to sound like "Deliverance" in a way... But, "You got a pretty bike, boy!"

Where did you purchase your 12000 mile service kit? And how much did it cost. I am in the process of getting my 05 K1200LT done soon.
