View Full Version : LT Windshield Questions

I recently bought an '00 LT with two windshields. I have a tall one that measures 24" from top to bottom (ends up in line of site when full down) and a short one that measures 16" top to bottom (ends up in line of site when full up). I do not know which is stock or how to compare to the sizing discussions I read here (i.e. +4" to -4"). I read a few attempts at comparing sizes and measurements take from the roundell on the stingray to the top of the windshield but I am trying to understand what I will need to order. I would like to have a new windshield that is about 1" - 2" below eye level when fully down.

I read just about all posts on the ZTechnik VStream and I love the way it looks. While there are two camps on opinions, I think this is the one I would like to go with. Understanding height will help the decision. Also, there does not seem to be many (if any) reviews past June of '06. Makes me wonder why the discussion on them stopped.

So, my two questions:
1) How can I measure the windshield height in relation to +/- 4".
2) After a year of use, what's the word on the VSteam?

Thanks for all the helpful information on this forum.

I've had em' all - except for the Parabellum. They all pretty much suck in their own way... about the only way to figure out which height will work for you personally is through process of elimination, sorry.

The V-stream is the only one that I don't constantly mess around with changing height settings.

It is also the only one that is polycarbonate except for the BMW OEMs.

I will never ride with an acrylic windshield - they are are flat out dangerous since they shatter on hard impacts. Polycarbonate flexes. ;)

After a year I still like the Vstream a whole lot better than the '06 stock (low profile or "Euro" version). It is the same center height with higher sides resulting in much better air flow and less noise.

Unless things have changed V-stream did not offer height options when they first came out a year or so ago, it is a very attractive looking windshield and I'd like to try one, the height is the main reason I did not.

I have a Cee Baileys #2 -2
which measures 22" right up the center of the windshield itself
and 17" from the roundell to the top

In the summer I put my stock windshield back on as it "blows air in my face"

I initially thought the #2 -2 CB was too tall for me (6')
but then I had my seat redone which raised me up another inch
and it's just about perfect (for me)

I see that you're relatively new to the forum and would like to make a suggestion:

We've got a lunch ride planned for January, check out the link below and
ride over to meet some of the forum members and look at their bikes (and windshields)
as well as all of the other gadjets and farkles,
I promise you won't be dissapointed.
