Hi everyone, I have a 2000LT and upon my last visit to the dealer, they mentioned that I´ve better replace the front Swing Arm located on the Paralever, it seams it has happen several time, and that the iron piece bends creating a unpredicted force upon the bolt cracking and causing problems.
I would like to know if someone has had that same problem?

There is no paralever or swing arm on the front suspension. BMW calls the type of front suspension they use as a telelever. Again get with your dealer and have him show you what is bent.

[IMG]Bunny thanks for the input, I'm not an expert on that field and the real name is after the right research is trailing arm for the front suspension. The dealer mentioned that where the bolt attaches is bend upward and should be changed to prevent accidents, it seams it's pretty usual, but I've not found any other case.

Thanks again

I think you need a new dealer there is no trailing arm in use on the front suspension.

Ummm Bunny, I think you need to view the OEM parts list before saying such un-informed BS

Sorry, I have only seen this part named as the leading link. In the 452 pages of the BMW Repair and Service manual there is no use, not one instance of the term "trailing arm". But I am always open to different terminology.
But regardless. How in the hell with no crash and no bike damage would you bend the thing?
I guess you could do it pulling the front suspension down to a trailer but then you would have to use a ridiculous amount of force.

That's Exactly what I'm talking about, can't explain how a well designed part can be damaged by a day to day riding 25K, You got it, it's exactly the part your showing.

If you can see the slope where the hole is, just where you sit the ball joint, well that slope has a couple more degrees upward. It was really scarry when I thought about the front wheel coming loose a tspeed.

I found a factory recall and not sure if it is the correct one the numbers are the following:

2895R K1200LT: Checking/Tightening Fastener On Front Trailing Arm,

and I don't know where to look for

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry can't help you any further, mine was bent hitting a really bad pothole at speed, from the sounds of the service bulletin you show it has nothign to do with it bending.

see why I call it bs,

hehehe, really though the parts list was direct from realoem.com, like you I can not find it in the repair manual CD either.

man if you have seen how tight they are strapped down from the factory when they un crate them, you would think (by the talk on this list) that every front end part would be destroyed in just getting the bike to the US! , they are strapp-ed down to the point of fully compressing the suspension front and rear, they pop up like a jack in the box when you take a strap off,

I can not see strapping on down doing that damage, I can see a pot hole curb or other hit doing hit, particularly with poor shocks
