Ok I have radio that is not working correctly. The display is on then you can change channels or frequencies but there is no sound. The first time this happened on 10-21-07 I disconnected the battery for about 5 minuets and the sound came back on. Then it went off again within the same day. I tried the battery disconnect method several more times and the last time left it disconnected for about 24 hours. The battery is a gel battery about a year and a half old. After reconnecting the battery it still would not come on. Anyone out there with other suggestions besides removing the tupperware nad checking all connections. I have thought of taking the bike to the local BMW shop to do a test on the battery to make sure it is functioning properly.

My guess is the connections under the stingray. If the battery fix did not work more than once, then I'd look for something else. A one and a half year old gel battery is not going to be your issue. JM2CW

I had a lot of trouble with my radio last year before I finally broke down and replaced the battery. Before I replaced the battery I got into the habit of turning off the radio before starting the engine. This temporarily kept the problem from happening every time I started the engine.
The LT radio seems to be very sensitive to battery voltage. If you have access to a volt meter, I would check the battery voltage. My year old Panasonic AGM reads 12.8 volts. As the writer in a previous post said, a 1 1/2 year old battery should be good but it won't take long to check.
If the battery is good I would pull the stingray and clean the contacts on the back of the radio and add some dielectric grease.
