I am looking to mount my GPS, Gamin Nuvi, and possible my radar locator to my 03 LT. I have looked at the Ram system and also the Saeng system. Saeng to date does not have the adapter to work with the Nuvi, so for now I am left with only one option, Ram. Anyone have any other suggestions for other mounting systems. In addition how difficult is it to hard wire these devices?
Has anyone else talked to Saeng they have been less then helpful?
Thanks for any input

I have a Garmin Nuvi and it fits perfectly in the top of the tank bag and the power lead plugs into a simple BMW plug to car power outlet converter. Dead simple and when you park up just put the tank bag into one of the boxes.

I have a Garmin 2830 on a BMR shelf across the top of the dash mounted on a Touratech mount.. It has many benefits including a great position to view without lowering your head far to see, offering shade for the instrument cluster, and the BMR can attach wings for radar, XM or Sirius and more.. NOW.. that being said.. your NUVI is NOT waterproof!!! The 2xxx series and the new rider versions are and considered safe for the weather, so care to remove it in conditions must be considered. The previous post that has you placing it into a tank bag with a disconnect has merit for weather and security that should be considered.

I know it is not weatherproof and that is why I believe I am having trouble with finding a mount. The tank bag seems like a plausible idea.
Thanks for the input.

+1. My set-up exactly except for a 2820. My shelf holds an antenna, since the sun cover is made of metal and greatly reduces signal, a Bluetooth transmitter and my work badge (Clips on. Easier for the guard and I don't have to pull it out with gloves on). I went with the locking Tourtech and leave it set up in a guarded parking lot with my bike sun cover over it all. I've left it while having breakfast on a RTE. There's always some owner talking to another all the while folk's are eating. I have a tank bag and can easily pop the GPS out and hard-bag the bag. Oh yeah. The easiest of permanent installations, too. Three drill holes and pop the dash light to run power. The install is well written up on the forum. HTH

Bill, did your 05LT have the factory installed GPS mount & wiring? If it did, was it much trouble to re-route to your BMR shelf?
I recently installed a BMR shelf. Since the factory GPS wiring is too short to reach the shelf, I will either have to cut it & try to extend it some how, or get a new cord from Garmin.
