I wanted to share some information in regards to mounting and balancing the tires and wheels on the K1200LT.

I just changed mine out today, and found the tire changing much easier on the K12 than on a GL1500 or GL1800. The tire comes off the rim easy, and the new tire went on easier. The removal and installation of the wheel doesn't take 1/2 the time it took on the GL1800 or 1500.

The verdict is still pending on the Storms I installed. I used Avon tyres on my 1800, and liked them much better than the Dunlops or Bridgestones. I'll let you know my take on the tires when I have put some wear on them. My learning curve continues to get smaller each day.

Best regards to all,

Fred

Did you use a tire changer or use irons?

We have a Coats 220 that we use...of course, we also use tire irons since it's a manuel changer. The tires just seem to go on, and come off easier than that of the GW. I'm not sure why. You certainly have less plastic to remove than on a GW. The only minor challenge to encounter was getting the front calipers in the correct position to pull the tire and rim out. The experience was good.
