Time for a new set of tires the growling is annoying. Is anyone using the michelin pilot2 and would going to a 60-17 from a 70-17 make a big difference. The 60 series is about an inch or less lower.....I like the tire tread design of the new pilot2 it looks like it would stay quiet for it's tread life.....

Is that tire weight rated for the LT? Check the specs before you buy and install it. And I'm not quite sure how you can tell a tire will be quiet once it's worn in by looking at the tread design, that's a new trick. :)

there is only one michelin tyre for the LT it is a macaddam
160/70 - 17 79 V REINF TL/TT check their site, if you put anything else on you will think you are riding on marbles trust someone who has tried and failed, stick to the recomended tyres and keep the rear pressure up to around 47 psi to stop cupping :)

At CCR a Bridgestone engineer talked about tires extensively. Basically what was said is that low tire pressure will ruin the tires. Once they are ruined keeping the pressure correct will not correct the tire. So if you don't pay attention to pressure you will inevitably ruin the tire and get the growl. Especially the front tire. He also stated that the tire pressure should be set to maximum pressure on the tire for two up riding and for solo riding take it down about 2 pounds from maximum.
