I just had my Avon Storm (B) installed today on the rear and I have a Metzler me880 (R) on the front. As I understand I should not have any problems with the combo but question for those of you that run this combonation what pressure are you running your tires at. Right now my riding is solo no load to work and back (60mi) highway riding. It is really to cold for anything else. Also any cold weather riding tips , I have a snowmobile jacket and pants but when its 30degF outside and im going 60-65 its damn cold regardless of what I have on. Any ideas for cheap warmth?

With the holidays just around the corner I would be putting a Gerbings electric vest on the list.

Hi,
As for cheap warmth here is my 2 cents :
* I bought a pair of Snowboard pants at a Sport shop. Costs me about 10times cheaper than a motorcycle dedicated cloth. It is fully lined.
* I have a complete hood (just showing eyes). No brand. just cheap.
* I have an all weather jacket with a detachable liner for summer time. I bought it in a supermarket and it's the best I ever had (and I had at least 2 Hein Gericke). It has a stretch at the bottom which is not as simple as it seems to find on motorcycle jackets.
Sportshops are a good way to look at when searching cheap clothing. I always get there first and I often found something that works great for a great price.

I am running the Avon on the back and the radial 880 on the front due to the odd wear on the Storm front tire. I really like the combination and am running 42 psi on the front and 45 on the back even though the sidewall says 42 max on the Avon. 7000 miles on the Avon and still showing a lot of wear left.

Your Avon Storm on the rear is a Radial also. I run 45 in mine. As far as warmth go to Walmart and get a fleece sweatshirt with a zip up collar. and get a long sleeve cold gear shirt for under it. I'm thinking about fleece pants too. May look gay, but I hardly ever take off my suit anyways. I use Tourmaster winter gloves. They are cheap and my fingers never get cold. I also wear a balaclava to keep my head warm (short hair).

Getting ready to replace the front Metz; cupping and the "wobble" is more pronounced. Thanks for the input.
Warmth? Ahhhh, go to the Army/Navy surplus, but top/bottom polyprops and pick up the neck gaitor. Matching-colored ensemble and WARM! Waterproof cordura jacket from ebay; Joe Rocket 5.0 pants finish the outfit.
I have a pair of Widder gloves but have not needed them on the LT; windshield and wings keep the wind off the hands pretty good. Gloves work best on the Sporty.

This is what I am using:
Marmot down sweater over a Patagonia T shirt, with a leather jacket on top. Got a balaclava from biker outlet today for $12. Cabela's Gortex gloves, Danner boots with Cablea's Marino wool socks. I also had Marmot long bicycle pants under a First Gear Mesh summer pant with armor. It was low 40's today, did about 100 miles, and was toasty. Not sure how much colder I can ride comfortably, but so far so good. Only thing cold was my nose, and some of that due to needing a new windshield, which goes on next week.

SPOILED as HE$$ and LOVING it :D
Gerbing Cascade Pants.
Gerbing Jacket Liner under Olympia Voyager Jacket
Gerbing Gloves
Gerbing Socks
Duel Controller
Nolan Helmet
Not a worry in the world about cold here :p
I played "layered and stuffed Snow Man" TOO many times to ride in PA'S Winters. Just got tired of doing it and it does confine you. Everything I am wearing is Armored and I have to say the Cascade Pants are "all that and a bag of chips, with salsa too" I am very pleased with them so far. Shangorider (Dan) is a cool guy. Have not used the socks yet.
When I did the first build on my Road Glide I drove 40 miles in 7 degree temps to get it to my friends house to start the build.
I don't know if I ever was that cold before, that is when I bought the Gloves and Jacket Liner. Core/Mass, meaning your trunk area of body controls the rest so if it is happy, most of the rest off you will be.
Tires, don't know, my stock have 5000 on them now and look new.

Thanks for the input guys layering looks the way to go for now till I hit the Lottery then i'll just move somewhere warm in the winter months. Im going to put some miles on the Avon this weekend see how she feels. I'll tell ya though that tire is sure sticky feeling a lot more so than the Metzler when new. Thanks again !!!!

You may want to check out www.sierratradingpost.com. They have 35-70% off on Carhartt clothes including insulated blue jeans, coats, etc. Seconds and irregulars but if it keeps you warm at a decent price who cares. :)

I hear alot about winter clothing.. I have alot of that also, but one thing most of it doesn't have is Armor..... Got to have Armor.... It all works great for keeping the body heat in, but what good will it be if the (God forbid) the worst happens????

Exactly.
I know people don't like to spend the money especially if they don't ride often in winter. I have extended my riding due to my expensive gear but is is armored, electric and waterproof. I spent 12 years on my Harley's playing Michelin Man and it just is no fun.
Amen to Armored, Heated Gear.

I can"t help with the tire issue, buuuttt I can tell you that the First Gear Thermal suit is as all I wear. I have never tried any of the heated vest or gloves, just this suit. The coldest it has been since I have had it was 16 or as I say (colder than damnit) and wore only jeans ,tee shirt and long sleeve shirt and was plenty warm. Also wore thinsulate leather gloves. This suit is 100% water proof and the Hypertex material does not let air through. The suit is a little bulky, the way the sizing fits I can wear riding jacket and pants under if I want.
Found this on MotoSport.com for $119.00, no tax or shipping. All others were about $145.00 and up.
Maybe this will help with all of the options out there.
