06 K12Gt rear brake pads $142+!!

When my brake pad wear indicator light came on last week; I was kind of surprised. I let go for a while, but I took the bike in for all the warrentee recalls to be done; They told me the rear pads were worn out cause using the rear pedal w/ linked brakes causes the rears to wear prematurely, and came to over $142+ cause of the built in sensors in the pads. They said they'de never had to replace them yet ,and I was the 1st, but he blamed it on my braking. I plan on buying them on line @Bobs Bmw for some discount.

Anyone have an aftermarket solution?

Tell them I have had three servo abs BMW's (02 k1200RS, 04 K1200RS, and 06K1200GT) the rear brake pads always wear out first (16000 to 20000 miles) and I never use the rear brake peddle, always the lever.

The factory rear pads list at $125, but Chicago BMW sells for 20% off.

EBC makes brake pads for the new GT. The rear pads are FA438HH, the front left pads are FA335HH, and the front right pads are FA441HH.

I haven't checked prices on the EBC pads yet. But I'm just gonna stick with the factory pads. Yes they're expensive, but it's just the cost of riding the bike, same as tires and fuel.

Rear pads are really small Howie. Use your brake lever, not the rear brake pedal. You got 2 BIG calipers up front, one little caliper in the back. Rear pads are smaller. Heat kills pad life. Let the system distribute the work for you. Brembo gave me a few million dollars when I was selling friction to them.
