NHTSA - Looking for input, see the Message below.

Hello All:

In SAFTEA-LU Congress has directed NHTSA to develop and provide to the States model language for use in traffic safety education courses, driver's manuals, and other driver's training materials instructing the drivers of motor vehicles on the importance of safely sharing the roads with motorcyclists . To assist us with this task I would like to review existing materials from DMV, HSO, motorcycles organizations etc. that include Share the Road with motorcyclists messages. These materials may include messages directed at motorcyclist or messages prepared for other roadway users that include motorcyclists. Please send electronic or hardcopies of materials to me no later than January 6, 2006 at marietta.bowen@nhtsa.dot.gov
or 400 7th Street SW (NTI-121), Washington DC 20590. If you have questions please feel free to e-mail or call me at
202-366-4969.

Thanks,
Marietta Bowen

Any suggestions for what to tell them?

1 Cell Phones or drive. Choose 1
2 Apply make up to face or drive. Choose 1
3 discipline your child or drive. Choose 1
4 Any other activity behind the wheel besides driving or driving. Choose 1
Note: In my limited 28 years of driving I have seen all kinds of activity behind the wheel. Feel free to use your imagination here.

Seriously, or is there something more meaningfull we can tell them?

I will have all my friends email them with a prepared statement. I just don't know what to tell them that might make a difference here.

Please advise so we can all get together and make a difference.

What about the "Ten Commandments of Driving" or lose your license?
