View Full Version : No eMail Notifications

For the past week or so, I have not received any email notifications of new PMs or of updated threads with subscriptions.
I tested my LTPart_com account, and it is receiving notifications OK, but my Deputy5211 account is not.
I did verify that I was set up for instant email notifications.
TIA

I've not had a daily feed of new messages since the 10/24. Is this another clitch that we can attribute to BG? :-)
Thanks

I've been getting all my usual instant emails and daily digest to specific forums just like always. Check your user CP (may have been messed up during the outage) to make sure that every thing it enabled correctly and up to date and also check your SPAM filters...

My user CP showed I was subscribed to the two forums I read, K1200LT and SE area. Course after looking and trying to change something, that may not be the case now. Will check again later.

I checked and rechecked our email system and so far everything seems to be just as it supposed to be. AOL is deleting (some) of our messages without even telling the user that the message was deleted, and some other ISP's have problems taking messages, but overall everything is fine(more or less)
Here is a hint: If you are a subscriber to BMWLT.com, and have a valid subscription, you are also getting an email account free of charge. Since this email account is tightly coupled to our systems, our emails do not get lost.
If you are an AOL subscriber OTOH and insist to use AOL's flawed email system you are on your own.

I am still NOT receiving any emails from the system, and my CP is configured to send email notification of new PMs, new posts in subscribed threads, and email from members.
I am receiving email from other sources to the same email address. I have checked my spam/junk box, and there are no BMWLT messages in there.
This has happened before, and there was a resolution on the server side that fixed it. I am not questioning your checking, Andy, by any means. I am simply stating that I am still not receiving notification emails from the server and I am frustrated by this. :)

Andy, I have not received any notices from the SC forum thread about the Munster Garage either, and my CP says I'm still subscribed.

I believe that this all started when I made my contribution, as I was getting them before. Does that give you anything else to check? They are supposed to be coming to my personal email on bellsouth.net. I don't use my BMWLT email account, got too many to keep up with now
Thanks

Thank you for your contribution, but that has nothing to do with it. I found one problem, which strictly speaking is not 100% in our area, and I tried to resolve that. If true the emails should start flowing again, by being redirected through a different email server, instead of sending them out directly.

Nothing this morning, but I think I may have it figured out and the blame goes to bellsouth. Since they have made changes in their web sites, they also have made some name changes. The reason I know this is because I have accounts on BS and ATT, but my primary ISP is BS. The reason I suspect this to be the problem is that I cannot access my account on ATT by my usual method. They evidently have put something in to re-route to the correct net, as they both have the same name on the screen.

I changed my address to munson@bmwlt.com and got emails again. I changed back to john@munson.net (netidentity.net) and they stopped. Is there any logging for failures?

Well mine are still not coming in and I have reset my settings several times. Guess I just need to create another email account. That will take time with the new bellsouth menu, or more accurately, that is "lack of menu".

Still no notifications. I will verify the settings one more time. Is there a log to see IF the notifications are being sent, and if they are being bounced back for some reason?

This is just a short message as I cannot really do any work from here.
I verified that emails are being sent, yet I also verified that SOME ISP's refuse to accept email from our servers for some arbitrary reason. If that is the case I can do relatively little.
Again, if you are a subscriber to BMWLT.com you DO get an em ail box as part of that deal, and I can only advise you make use of that. We have little to no influence what ISP's refuse to accept which emails. The only one that HAS influence is YOU their customer. if you complain loud enough they will do something. *WE* cannot force them to accept the emails.

This is a problem we really do not know how to solve. One of the problems we have is that some people who are members of this community report the emails we send as spam. Despite the fact that we do not send emails to anyone who has not joined our community, sometimes the ISP will respond to these reports by blacklisting our domain. We do not have the stature or the resources to battle these ISPs for you, but you can let your ISP know that you are not receiving expected emails from this community.
If you are not receiving the emails from this community, please report it to the customer service of your provider. We are automatically sending the emails and if you are not receiving them your ISP is likely blocking them.
As Andy said, if you are a subscriber to this community, we provide an email address of 'username'@bmwlt.com. If you add this account to your email client and use this address to deliver your community notifications, you will not have a problem.

Andy and Randy:
The new email account got it's daily review of the subscribed forums, it works, GREAT!
Now fo the part I do not understand, both accounts are with the same ISP, server settings are exactly the same, so what gives, err, what doesn't give?
I may switch it back later just to see if it will work. If it is successful, I'll let you know.
Thank YOU both for effort, it is appreciated. Having been a former sysop on an old bbs I know it takes an effort, again Thanks!

JohnThe short answer - we don't know. This has been an ongoing situation and we are still working to understand all of the causes. Keep us posted on any cause and effect relationship you may find as the more detectives we have working on this, the more likely we are to get to the bottom of it.
