Seagull

We've just had a couple of days away in the West Lakes, we stayed in one of the Norwegian lodges at Brockwood Hall (http://www.brockwoodhall.co.uk/) near Millom. We got a discounted deal through Laterooms.com. The lodge itself was brilliant, it could sleep up to 6 people so we had loads of room for just the 2 of us. :)

Part of Wednesday evening was spent in the hall having a meal and beer, Cumberland sausage and mixed grill got the votes. Thursday morning we took a 2 1/5 hour walk on the local roads, dodging horses as we meandered along.

On Thursday afternoon we rode over to the Wasdale Head Inn (http://www.wasdaleheadinn.co.uk/home.html), I've been wanting to go there for quite some time.

Approaching Wasdale Head. Once you leave the main road, the road to Wasdale is about the width of 1 car in most places, combined with hidden dips and lots of twisties, you'll do well to get above 25 - 30 mph. This was a straight bit... obviously. :)

Ritson's bar (at the Wasdale Inn), named after Will Ritson who was a former landlord and was voted as the worlds biggest liar (http://www.civichall.org.uk/events/info/wbl.html) back in the 19th century.

Jill had the Yeebarrow (the black stuff) and I had to settle for a Great Gable shandy. :faint: Both beers brewed on site.

A couple of pics taken at the back of the inn, an area allocated to smokers, lepers and the like.
