Hi all !
I'm a biker from Italy. After spent years riding all around old Europe next year, with some good friend, we are planning a big holiday in the U.S., of course driving a LT.
My question is : can anyone give us advice about renting a LT in USA for a coast to coast journey ?
example : pick up in New York and return bike in San Francisco.
The expected time for our holiday is August.
We are oriented to rent the bike there because expedition of our bikes to USA means at least 3 months without it at home.
Every answer is welcome.
Thank you. Bye.

Hi Maurizio!
Put your bike in to plane for example from Munich or Frankfurt to New York and return from SF to Munich. Costs about 3900$(2700€). Or try Munich/Toronto and return Vancouver/Munich 3400$(2360€).
Now you don't need to go without your bike as 3 months.
I am planning a great American tour next year too.
My trip is going to start next august and I have decide to fly my LT from Frankfurt to Galgary(Canada) and then three weeks driving somewhere in Canada and US. I'm going to take part in CCR2008. Return from Toronto to Frankfurt(Germany). I don't know how long your trip last, but I have noticed BMW LT's rent are not cheap. Three week rent is easily quite same as your bike flyticket...!

The BMWMOA has a list of rentals at
http://www.bmwmoa.org/global/ToNorthAmerica.htm
It all depends on how long you will be renting a bike. If it is just a few weeks it would be better to rent.
It's alwas nice to have your own bike but if there is a breakdown then it is better to have a rental.
