I am not a new user of autocom, but rather a new user of the LT and autocom. I picked up the bike a couple of weeks ago and everything worked great for about 15 minutes when all of a sudden the intercom stopped working. I was pushing all sorts of buttons to get aquainted with the radio system, but it seemed as though the sound faded and then squeaked before dying.
Does the intercom function of the OEM radio have to be selected for this to work? I just discovered that the bike had that option.
I have the autocom cable that allows the radio to be played as the music source in the autocom.
I do not get anything out of the autocom, including voice.
Thanks,
Steve

The Intercom function on the LT's radio has nothing to do with the Autocom. It's another feature that was probably in the original spec for the LT, but that BMW never did implement (remember talk of a 12V refrigerator system?).
If you're not getting voice or music from the Autocom, then I'd look at the power connections first. Some Autocoms run off a 9V battery (so they can be used in your pocket), and some have a 12V to 9V converter that has to be wired into the bike. Look at the Autocom and try and find the power feed and check for a battery or a fuse.
Autocom also makes a music interface adapter that converts the LT's stereo speaker output to a lower level music input for the Autocom. A few of these had toggle switches to switch the music between the external (usually trunk) speakers and the intercom. Problems there could result in no music, but the speech should still work.
Check into these things and then give us more info and we'll see what we can do.

I guessed as much with the intercom function.
This was wired directly to the 15 amp fuse for the cruise control with no power adapter in between. My RT had the step down adapter and had the 9volt harness. THis one is direct wired from the battery compartment area of the autocom. He had it grounded to a bolt and not to the battery.
My guess is that is it fried. I am sending in to Autocom to see what they think.
I will keep you posted.

If you are careful you can pull the sticker back and take the cover off and see if the power is getting to the printed circuit. Even look for 'frying damage'....
I had to change a damaged cable and it was easy to replace.. a knife will help you lift a corner of the label.. then a few screws..

Thanks Jack. I am going to send it in to TopGear and see what they say about it.
