On my 1995 R1200RT with stereo, there's a volume up-down button on the left handlebar. Lately its not been lowering the volume well. Yesterday it stopped working altogether (although I could raise the volume as much as I liked.) Today its working again but I suspect it is wet/dirty. Any advice on how to clean it. I was going to spray some WD40 (brand) cleaner/oiler/dessicant on it. I guess this means I need to remove the cover.
Anyone done this before?
Thx
RB

Wouldn't recommend WD-40 due to the petro lubricant.

This should do the trick , IF this is the problem.

If the switch truly is waterproof ( sealed to keep liquids out ) I don't think the contact cleaner would get in there either. I haven't opened mine (yet), but I envision removing the cover to find sealed switches that can't be opened.

I had similar problem at one time with the 'mute' button activating on its own. Dealer's recommendation -- re-seat the plugs under left side of stingray, (and if that had not fixed things, replace the multi-function left switches)
