I've been watching the site like a hawk, but haven't seen anything about registrations. Is there an early registration process for those that have attended earlier CCRs? I don't qualify for that! :(

Does the "Newbie" registration start 10/13? I'm AFD for that week.

Pre-registration closes this Friday. General registration will not open on Saturday but will after some details get worked out. There are slots left for the reunion and at the hotel.

Question: How can we make a hotel reservation without the CCR confirmation e-mail containing the registration number? You can't. That is the reason we haven't sent out the confirmation emails yet. We are still working on getting the kinks out of the hotel's registration system. One of the things we make the hotel commit to is not allowing a reservation unless the person first purchases a CCR registration. Also, due to our negotiated room rates, the hotel needs to get all of the pricing tied to our group ID. We cannot send out the registration confirmations until we have all of that worked out to our satisfaction.

This is but one of things your staff of highly unpaid volunteers is working on.

The good news is that it is a very big property and there are plenty of rooms.

I think you'll be fine, Caitlin. Here are the rules about 2-up rides for the SS1000 and BB 1500 from the IBA site -

You may also complete the ride two-up (with one person doing the piloting, the other being a passenger the entire distance - you may not share piloting duties!). In these cases, the Iron Butt Association issues one certificate, with both rider and passenger on it, but we provide two copies of it; one for the rider and one for the passenger. There is NO additional charge for a passenger, however, if they would like a pin or plate frame, you will need to add that in on the fee schedule page.

So, you and Howard go for it! We'll see you both in Utah!

ok lol to griff - training wheels will not be necessary; unlike you guys i won't break a hip if i fall off ;)

gilles - i would definately need something smaller. dad and i both think a triumph sprint would do nicely :D

steve - YES i will be riding circles around him no doubt about it!

and david - thank you for the info! ill have to forward that on to dad and let him know how it works as well.

see you all in utah!

Ducks and runs for cover.I ignore this thread for one day -- ONE DAY -- and you guys run rampant. Let's get some things straight:

Caity has a bike. It's a Schwinn 10-speed, and it's hanging up in the garage. Unless one of us hits the lottery there won't be any new bikes (of any kind) for college students in the family. But a 650-class bike would be perfect for her. She doesn't need the power of a GS to haul her tiny frame around. A Triumph Sprint? Not likely...
Caity will be able to ride circles around me. Yeah, that's gonna happen. (actually, it would be fun to do some multi-bike LD riding within the family...)
I love my daughter's sense of humor. "Break a hip..."... good one.

Howard, you say power like it's a bad thing! :histerica Do we really "need" 116 hp in the LT, or 152 in the GT? Probably not. But boy, oh boy it's sure nice to have! :D

Even I will admit the Vespa is too little "bike" for a new rider. Caity could certainly benefit from a small-displacement bike to start with. The K12S? Yikes. I couldn't afford it OR the insurance.

Henry;

Make sure Caitlin doesn't talk to Michelle. Despite having gotten a 650GS for her birthday last year, she still loves her K1200S. I'm pretty happy with mine as well.

Michelle went from a Honda Rebel 250 to an R11250RT in about a year - that with a 29" inseam and only 5'4" of stature.

FWIW the K1200S costs us the same as the LT to insure. Dairyland has not classified the K12S as high risk. My R1200GS costs more to insure than the K1200S.

Starting out on a small bike is the way to go! Then in 2 or 3 years buy a nice used bike.

Insurance really is fairly cheap compared to some states. When I got my first bike at 17, my parents wouldn't put it on their insurance. Just don't get any type of ticket or I'm sure it will shoot through the roof! You should be fine riding behind your dad :histerica

Me thinks the young lady has been bitten by the bug! :D

Howard, you're in for it now! :histerica

BTW - the 800 ST is an extremely competent machine and the power delivery is consistent enough where it could be a good bike to learn on, and it will be a good longer term ride as your skills increase. I've enjoyed every ride I've taken on the 800s.

Ahh, I can feel Howard giving me the stink-eye now. :p :D

You're right. That wasn't me. That was the guy who knows your dad as Henry ;)

Seriously, there are many women who ride their own that will be at CCR. Ruth West has been very happy with her Sprint, and Michelle would be happy to tell you of her many Long trips on her R1150RT, R1200RT and now her K1200S. Deb and Dean Sauer's daughter rolled into Red River last year on her Dad's GS and Gail Hoogerland can tell you about her Suzuki 500. While you may not be ready to get your own, there is no harm in research.

Thanks to all (OK, SOME) of you for your comments and suggestions. There can be no doubt Caity looks good on a bike. It will have to be something that she acquires on her own, though.
