I can't get anything to come through on my headset. I had the battery out for about a month and when I put it back in my headset has gone silent. Everything plays through the external speakers. I've pushed the HS/Ext button more times than I can count. It has no impact on anything. I continually get sound through the external speakers. It is like the relay isn't disengaging the external speakers for the headset. I called A&S but they didn't have any suggestions, other that to bring it in. I'm going to Big Bike Weekend on the 12th and would like to have it fixed by then. Any suggestions?

The only thing I can think of is the fuse for the comm system is blown. I don't know if it's in the unit or easily accessible. Considering the time crunch you're under, I think taking it to A&S is your best bet to get it fixed by the 12th.

Assuming a factory comm system and at the risk of stating the obvious, has the bike been worked on recently or have you had the port side fairing off to work on other wiring and/or have you noticed static when you go over a bump? It's possible the six pin plug under the stingray that connects the comm system to the output plug may have become disconnected. It's a pretty simple fix once you get the port side tupperware off. If/when you find it, plug it back in and tape it together with electric tape.

If not that then.....

Is it a factory comm system? If so, which one and what model year bike? Is the pillion seat wired? If so, check for connectivity there. Do you have another wired helmet you test with? Presuming you checked all the cord connections on yours you could have a short in the input socket or a short in the lower cable. I have had both happen with my factory comm system over the years and replaced both sockets and lower cords at different times. If after checking the fuses it still does work it may well be you have a fried comm unit. Not unheard of with BC1 & BC2.

David & Bob,
Thanks for the info. It is a 2002 with a factory unit. I have not tried the passenger plug, but will. I was just getting ready to head to A&S. The Mrs. will be picking me up at 6:00. I read the radio manual but it didn't seem to help me. I've had no other problems and did not have any other plastic off the bike. Like I said, everything plays just fine through the external speakers.

Thanks again.

Took it in to A&S and they said it was a disconnected power wire. Charged me 1-hour to find it and fix it. All is well now. Don't know how it happened or which wire it was. Thanks to everyone that offered opinions.
