Good Evening,

I've read David Hough's books and articles in MCN. He's mentioned using tennis balls cut in half as practice 'cones'. Anyone tried to cut a tennis ball in half? What works? Thanks.

scalpal, exacto knife would work too, just watch the digits if you slip, could become very painfull and expensive

Hacksaw works great and ALMOST no chance of coming up short on fingers.

I've always cut them on a bandsaw (if you have one).

You know all purpose utility knife, dry wall, roofing, construction type.
Use a new blade.
Watch your fingers.

You could also use small cups, like the bathroom cups upside down. Pop cans, etc. if you don;t want to cut up the tennis balls.

Unless you have a lot of used tennis balls lying around, save your money and go to a nursery or hardware store and get a bunch of their small plant pots. They are a heck of a lot cheaper than tennis balls and you don't have to cut them up. They stack up when you are done with them and are easier to store.

I used a hack saw to cut several dozen tennis balls in half.

Place the blade on the ball and grab the ball through the gap above the blade and start sawing.

I use these for skillz practice.

Would be a lot more fun to use a potato cannon to shoot the tennis balls at a meat cleaver.

Mission Update:

All Tennis balls successfully cut in half with a box cutter. All external flanges still connected and undamaged. Tried them out on our local MSF range. Worked great! Now, where does one find a potato cannon and a cleaver...

We found chartruese seconds at Target - a bag for $7. They really glow on fresh black parking lots!
