Hey Folks,

My eldest daughter arrived home today from Sydney.

She knows i have a weak spot for doughtnuts and bought home some Krispy Kreme doughnuts. (http://www.krispykreme.com.au/newsouthwales.html)

My daughter tells me that there is 2 of these shops at the Sydney Airport.

And boy oh boy... there was 12 to start with in the box... i have eaten 4 all ready....i dont think they will last till sunset!

They also do posthome packs as well!! What a brilliant idea!

Those things were invented right up the road from us. Glad you enjoy them. Know what you mean, hard to stop with just one. Raspberry, Blueberry or Boston Creme filled are my favorites but they are all good. There is a small mall not far from here where they make them, can watch through a glass wall. Might fire up the LT and go and get a dozen, or two, or maybe three.

See what you started?

As a 30 year police officer, I can attest to the absolute wonderfulness of Krispy Kreme Donuts. The company has had an interesting history over the last few years. Their stock sly rocketed as they began to expand and open more stores then the stock sunk like an anvil in the ocean as the low carb craze hit. They are in the process of asking their creditors to restructure loans and their stock is down around $5.50 USD from a high of about $25.00 in 2000.

I hate to tell you this but unless you've had HOT or Warm KKs you really don't know what KK are. I'm very serious about this. If you are ever in Sydney.....you owe it to yourself to go there and wait for them to start making them.

Most of the KK shops here in the US have a red fluorescent "HOT" sign in their window to let passerbys know they are fryin!!!

Toss one in the microwave for about 10 seconds.

We have a local family run place that makes 'em even better.

We used to have a KK shop in Akron Oh. but it closed.
Last fresh warm ones I had were in Vegas of all places.
The Excalibur Hotel has a shop/machine the pick the right off the roller and sell them still warm. Yummy! :)

I grew up on those in South Carolina. We would go get a couple dozen hot ones, and the bottom of the box would burn your hands getting back to the car. Eat one before you get out of the parking lot, a few more within a couple miles. :D :D

I think I was in my late teens before I even knew there were OTHER doughnut makers out there. None have compared over the years though. When I moved to California, I was really discouraged to find they were not here. About two years ago though they opened shops here too! :D :D :D

As others have said, if you liked them cold, wait till you get there when they are coming out of the fryer, and get hot ones. No way to re-heat them and be nearly as good though.

They're so good that apparently a couple of helicopter officers were circling a local KK one night waiting for the HOT sign. They set the bird down when they saw it go on. They got (in) a little hot water with their donut.

Yes the Excalibur Hotel has a KK's making fresh donuts, but the store over on Spring Mountain & Rainbow has a big facility crankin out fresh goodies almost 24/7... If you go there while they are making the nightly batch and mash your face on the glass and drool a little they will give you a free glazed donut hot out of the frier. Vegas is Good for something other than gambling!!! ;)

The last time I went into a KK, they gave me a free hot donut. I didn't know how to tell them I only wanted one. http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoticons4u/sad/533.gif

Same here! Good ploy though, I went in one morning to get a couple doughnuts and a cup of coffee. She handed me the free hot one, and since I did not want to feel so cheap and just buy one more, I ended up buying three different kinds. So instead of selling me just the two I went in for, I paid for three. :D
