My former employer (who refuses to be named, but let's just say it is a 3 letter acronym referenced in 2001 A Space Odyssey as HAL... ) is paying for the Certified Ethical Hacker training and the Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator training. I got the training material from Quick Cert, and everything is branded EC-COUNCIL.
Can anyone give me some feedback on these 2 certifications?
I am looking for suggested reading material in addition of what is in the books.
Also for those who own one of both of these certifications:
1 did this help you with your current job?
2 did this help you get your next job?
3 was it worth it?
Any help or comments would be appreciated.
Thank you!

I'd suggest looking for a local chapter of the HTCIA. While 95% of the members in our local chapter are law enforcement, it is a great place to get leads and information on the forensics/security field. Once certified you may find work through the group. Or, hang your own shingle out, there is a lot of forensic work available for private individuals, or if you don't mind the court expert witness testimony thing, as a paid expert. Plus, it's interesting as hell! :D

I have not taken those specific courses, all my training is through the HTCIA.

I'm self employed, so I can't speak about any benefit in hiring. But it has supplemented my income nicely in addition to my main gig, Novell Network Engineer.
