Just curious.

I ride everyday rain or shine and I didn't see another bike on the roads this morning.

Below is my morning Commute Posts from my blog with Radar shots.

Commuting in FlatLand October 2 (http://davedragon.rilysi.com/2007/10/bmw-motorcycle-riding-commuting-travel_02.html)

http://bp3.blogger.com/_YEW26cjh_-M/RwIspHBrz8I/AAAAAAAAChA/4rpQRDd7SXg/s200/CIMG1121.JPG (http://bp3.blogger.com/_YEW26cjh_-M/RwIspHBrz8I/AAAAAAAAChA/4rpQRDd7SXg/s1600-h/CIMG1121.JPG)
Another wonderful morning for a Motorcycle Ride in FlatLand.

It just happened to be raining sideways during the entire commute but if you don't ride in the rain, you don't ride!

Yes folks I eat my own dog food and firmly believe in my own quote as stated at the top of the blog page:
http://bp1.blogger.com/_YEW26cjh_-M/RwIspnBrz9I/AAAAAAAAChI/jdYloCcebIM/s200/CIMG1124.JPG (http://bp1.blogger.com/_YEW26cjh_-M/RwIspnBrz9I/AAAAAAAAChI/jdYloCcebIM/s1600-h/CIMG1124.JPG)
"There's no such thing as bad riding weather, just bad riding gear."

Loads of traffic all along the commute and true to their nature, the Cagers drive like idiots when its raining.

Tail-Gating, rapid braking, lane incursions and all manor of distractions to sub-divide their already lacking attention spans make the commute a rolling dance through a mine field.

I was not surprised to find the Motorcycle Parking area here at the office deserted as there are only a handful of riders here that commute and only One that I know of that rides everyday, rain or shine.
That would be the "crazy dude on the Big BMW" as I am known. http://s3.amazonaws.com/advrider/thumb.gif

Hey Dave, sitting at a stop light yesterday I counted 12 folks out of 15 talking on a cellphone when their arrow came up. I'm sure it would have been more, but they had to wake up first and remember which pedal was the gas and the light ran out.

Then, there's the new thang: kids sitting in the left lane typing on their cell phones.

But, here's the best part. I'm toodling up the highway towards a wall of water and looking forward to it. Man, it's still hot here and it was like a shot of a/c, though the mornings have been nice.

Yessir - everyday. I just have way too short of a commute. But I do find many reasons to run errands in the middle of the day. 45ish these mornings. Feels good.

Rain? What's that? Our area is in a stage 3 water restriction.

Yep, it was Brutus and me like almost every morning. We had some light rain on the commute this morning. Of course this isn't unusual seeing as how it's Cool Rain here is Seattle. That's Autumn for folks unfamiliar with the unique climatology of the Pacific NW (http://www.bmwlt.net/ubbthreads/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=K1200LT&Number=299655&Search=true&Forum=All_Forums&Words=ice%20capades&Match=And&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Old=allposts&Main=299322).

Some times I will ride Rufus when he starts feeling left out :(. Actually Rufus and I took a little 200+ mile jaunt on Saturday to Leavenworth and back over Hwy 2. We even stayed mostly dry until we got about two miles from home when we ran into a downpour. There is fresh snow at the higher elevations and the Cool Rain colors are getting to be spectacular. Actually I went to Rayrock Spring Custom Knives which is a little shy of Leavenworth proper. In mid-June I commisioned them to build a damacus bowie for me and I rode over to pick it up. I have a small collection of large frame knives and I am partial to bowies. I'll post some pictures of it when I get home tonight.

On rare occasions JDsHog will slink out of the garage so long as there isn't a single cloud showing on the weather sattelite picture :rotf:. I think that has been a total of about six times this year. Warm Rain and Hot Rain have been wetter than normal this year and there have been very few dry weekends.

Every day. Beautiful morning today, 70 and a crimson sunrise as the morning fog burned off. The summer heat is finally gone, I love autumn.

Jim,

Did you drop in at the Candy Store in Leavenworth?
They make some good stuff and are the source for the CCR Sauces thanks to Bruce.

I rode this morning. On my work bike. Don't like to get the 1200 covered with manure and feed dust. It's a whole 7 miles.

Commuting in FlatLand October 2 - Follow-Up (http://davedragon.rilysi.com/2007/10/bmw-motorcycle-riding-commuting-travel_8740.html)

This Photo was taken by Bill Stevens who was well behind me on the Veterans Expressway during the commute this morning.
http://www.davedragon.org/pink/Accident-on-Vets.JPG (http://www.davedragon.org/pink/Accident-on-Vets.JPG)

There are four vehicles involved in this as Dave C. describes it in the comments of the previous posts.

The "Idiot Pile" was probably caused by the Rapid-Braking I mentioned in the above post.

A rainy FlatLand Morning and the Idiots are in bloom!

Nope, didn't ride to work this morning. Of course, except for Honey Do's, I don't work any more. However, in the old days, I to rode every day rain or shine!

Not this trip but I did in June when my wife and I went over. You can pretty much graze your way to oblivion there. If you are into wine there are at least 10 wineries with wine tasting venues located in Leavenworth. A great place to sample a load of different micro brews as well. Octoberfest at Leavenworth is a blast and VERY popular.

I do ride every day, but, if it's raining when I go out in the AM, I take the truck (after I put on my panties :histerica )

I don't mind getting caught in rain on the way home, but, to work, not so fun. Maybe I should invest in raingear

Coldest so far was 51 F. Getting CRISP out there

Nope.. sitting here in my easy chair ....waiting for my "virus" to subside... One thing for sure... there is NO riding gear that can help this....

And, while I sit here at the desk, I can watch the GPS jitter bouncing 'round the parking lot. And dream....

I'll post some pictures of it when I get home tonight.
Here are a few pics. The overall length is 16.5" and the stainless steel ladder damascus blade is approximately 11". The handle is walrus ivory with brass and red moss amber spacers. The knife maker, Elliott Wakefield, named it the "Skykomish Damascus Fighter". Skykomish is the name of a local first nation tribe, town and river. It translates to "The Inland People".

and thank you for asking.

At the bank's IT center on the east side of Columbus it's always me and a co-worker on his GL1800. Lately, another guy on his Yamaha cruiser and a fourth guy on his older Ninja have been riding, too. We're making a pretty good showing. When it gets colder it will be just me and the Goldwing. In the middle of winter... just me. I agree with your "gear v. weather" comment, Dave.

Yes. I rode the little K1200S to work and on some errands.

I sure get home from work a lot quicker on that bike :D

... everyday unless there is snow or ice...

People don't even ask me anymore if I rode in "that weather" 'cause they are tired of hearing me say "Of course, it's only water!" ...

Cagers do make me nervous so I really really watch the intervals and intersections....

I am riding to work every day as long as the streets don't ice and snow up. The ride home is the interesting leg as I head home around 10:15 in the evening and it do get cool now.

Yep, I rode this morning. Since my commute to work is short, I get up early and take my camera and go for an hour ride or so. I take lots of photos in the early morning of the farm country around here. And, of course, I get to spend time on my bike. What could be better?

Just got back from my daily payroll deliveries. Man, I just love it, riding and working.

I used to desuit to make my deliviries and it turned the job into a pain. Now (except Doctor's offices) I just walk in with helmet and everything on. It' made life so much easier, especially when the drop off's are less than a mile apart.

Yep, everyday that way I can use the HOV lanes. I don't like rain in the mornings and if it is raining sideways I will wait till it dies down a little. GS most of the time, but the LT when it gets chilly it doesn't seem to ever get really cold in DFW. I don't do snow or ice.
