I've noticed all the folks writing with great relief about the site being back up, I've noticed on the home page all the folks who've logged onto the site since.

If y'all that haven't, would do just the basic, one dollar a month membership, it would be a great stone's throw to ensuring this site wouldn't go down again.

All that takes is equipment and equipment costs bucks.

One dollar a month. Who among us can't afford that? That's 12 bucks a year, less than a tank of gas. Pennies a day.

C'mon folks, you want to change your user name to a purdier color, don't you?

Is there a package membership that changes the color of my name in i-bmw.com, bmwlt.com and k-bikes.com all together? (And are there more I missed... yeah, BMWXPLOR if I feel like playing with FLASH)

:-)

Okay, it seems like only bmwlt.com and k-bikes.com (of the ones I know about) are run off the same hardware...

+1 Grif... I lurked for awhile, then decided that my membership was the best $60.00 a year I could have spent (opted for the primo membership with email). I got that much knowledge back within days!

Not only knowledge of the bike, but made quite a few friends here too...

This is starting to feel like those Avon and Tupperware parties my wife used to visit. Peer pressure - give up some cash - c'mon everyone's doing it. "For the price of a cup of coffee you can help some starving motorcycle enthusiasts."

I used to have the highest level of membership on this site. I might do that again soon - at my discretion. But damn it fellas, enough with the pledge drive.

I know it sounds like a pbs commercial sometimes, But people sometimes need a reminder that this site is not free to operate. A great example of that just occured with the recent meltdown we just had. Big bucks I'm sure.Thank goodness the day to day labor is free from volunteers. Usually when Grif speaks importantant messages come out. In the last couple of years I have donated cash at events like CCR and some events the good ole boys from NORCAL put on. In the next week or so I will clean out the garage and sell some LT items here on this site and I will donate a portion to this site.

You might want to get some blinders, because it is the time of year when we need to remind people to support the site. We spend a lot of money on software, hardware and hosting charges to maintain this community. We only have the funds to do this because of the people and companies that support us. As one of the owners of this site, I promise you we are net contributors, both in time and money - we don't get any income from the site.

FYI, Grif's post was the first I can recall in quite some time mentioning supporting the site. We didn't even pursue a fund raising effort last fall.

The really nice thing is that supporting this site is always 'at your discretion'.

So, you're that Randy. Since I mailed you a check yesterday for my membership,
I wanted to know what it takes to go from "Junior Member" to "Member" status?
Time? Payoffs? Pie?

I see some others have strange phrases like "Strafist" or "Vox Ox" ?? Some exotic
control panel wizardry I've yet to stumble onto?

You've got to be kidding. This is the first thread I've seen this year asking for money to help cover the cost of this site. If you knew how much time and money the admins and mods spend to keep this site going you'd be ashamed to make that statement.

Hello James and welcome. To go from Junior, to Member, to Senior simply takes some posting. I don't recall the numbers, I think it's 25 posts to drop the 'Junior' and 100 to add Senior. It's outlined here on the site somewhere, go to the site FAQ's.
To get the odd title under your name you just gotta be a 'Gold' level supporter or higher.

Brian,

It's not a recurring payment. It is a one-time donation. After a year (the length of a subscription), you'll get a reminder email but will not be billed. The system is set up by default like a subscription. It takes action on your part to renew if you choose to. It's not an automatic thing.

Thanks Rick. Woo Hoo. Only 18 more Posts to go.

So, has anyone posted the actual costs expended to maintain this
site? Also are these memberships tax deductable? Do we have a
service contract on that Dell gear? I work for Sun, and I know we'd
be in deep kimchi (sp?) leaving a customer down for that long.

This would have to be a 501 C3 or something wouldn't it? I don't see
those magical words on the membership order so I doubt it.

For a nice donation to support this site, you too can have "Custom User Title"!

If you want to have a custom title, your donation will open a board in your User CP.

I have been on the site for nearly 4 years...enjoyed every moment on practically a dayly basis and want to try and make up for it.
Costs of transfers are ridiculously high and only benefit the banks..so if any of you guys have a bank account here in Europe, I'ill pay in euros €€ and in turn you pay in the equivalent $$ for my subscription in the us on my behalf ( Whatever banking costs saved, I'll also give to the site... ) send me a pm and I'll reply and act.

That sounds like a lot of work to save a few cents...

Do you have paypal? That works the best.

It's just a small microcosum of America.
You got those that work and willingly support it.
Then you have the welfare riders.
Don't forget your food stamps.
