PLEASE HELP!
please write your represenatives and tell them just how reduclious this House Bill is. Once again, they are basically stating that motorcyclist are at fault and should be pentilized. Write your represenative and remind them that the majority of motorcyclist are killed by otherS who failed to yield, turing left... and lets work on a law that will give those killers a citation and points on their license, and possible time in jail.

I can see this law only encouraging the sportbike riders to go faster in an attempt to out run the cops. After all, they are already going to loose their MC endorsement, be arrested and have their bike impounded...what's a little thing like evading arrest?

That's exactly what happened in Texas when they did something similar. 25 MPH over, or triple digits: Go Directly to Jail - Do Not Pass Go - Do Not Collect $200. Felony if convicted.

Looks like they could give a felony conviction for a burnout???

In NC, you can get a careless and wreckless charge for "breaking traction", so if that holds true with this in FL, you could theoretically get the 10 year revocation for "barking" into 2nd.

Yea, they hate us for our freedoms.....

I'm not a wild man, but I can agree that this will just make people run rather than risk this over the top penalties.

I know they hate me. I got pulled over today for zig zagging behind a LEO on a two lane Farm to Market road. He was pissed and told me no amount of zig zagging behind would make him break the speed limit.

He did calm down when I told him I moved over to the outside of the lane simply because gravel trucks and 18 wheelers tires when they blow are deadly to motorcyclists. So, now I'm an ambassador to motosickling and have educated a young LEO on proper lane positioning for us.

Well at least if they take your motorcycle license away, you can still ride a harley. It IS another category, isn't it?

That assumes the squidy even has a motorcycle endorsement .

Quite draconian nevertheless. What's wrong with just enforcing the current laws to the letter? Besides, as far as the laws of physics go, a punk in a 2000 lb tuner car (who more likely has a license to revoke) going 30 over is more dangerous to the populace than 550 lb of bike + squidmeat.

I guess Lopez-Cantera (one or both or whatever) got buzzed by someone going rather fast and this is their own knee-jerk reaction?

Typical politics, but it really gets people going! Just like proposed helmet laws.. :D

Not much sympathy here. This is already the law in Ohio. :( Well...except for the losing your endorsement for 10 years. Now that's extreme.

Fortunately for me, I'm more of the law-abiding, non-speeding type. You know...the typical all-Americian Boy Scout. :) :) :)

Sounds like discrimination to me. :(

I could probably live with this law if it were to apply to "all operators of motor vehicles ... over 30 mph ...." etc. However, to apply this law only operators of motorcycles is definitely discriminatory.

Well that or worse.
Have seen many a handle bar modified and equiped to fire out a 12 ga shell.
If your gonna go out, might as well be in a blaze :D .

So, how much pressure is being made upon the Almighty State Guvamint to apply this to ALL motorists or disregard.

Now, SHOULD someone be found guilty of evading (not the MC alone.. after all, hard to prove who is riding unless de-lidded), then, MAYBE this might make sense.... OR if they were to include "low performance" drivers, that would be closer to "fair".

I got a warning ticket in Georgia a few months back for "weaving".. I had just came for the super slab and hit a mountain road, and was weaving to get the flat spots off the tires... I looked and could see a car about quarter mile behind me, (trooper I found out) but no one else on the lonely road this Saturday morning. I told the trooper that I was doing like NASCAR and rounding the edges of the tires after running the slab...I didn't cross the center line.... He said "he never heard of such" gave the warning...

Glad I wasn't standing on the GS and weaving too!:)

But, I understand he was doing his job...he saw a bike weaving and needed to check it out...had to give me documentation, to prevent profiling thing.

I would like to hear what their rationalization is for such an obviously biased piece of legislation. I wonder if it would hold up if challenged. Unless the law applies equally to all drivers it is completely discriminatory. Hate to say it, but I don't expect better from the politicos in Florida.

When did we move to communist state?
What does this proposed traffic law have to do with the government controlled means of production?
