Just to let the members know;

Andy has been burning the candle at both ends for a week & a half in focused effort to get this site back on-line.

The nature of the hardware failures and tech support issues were such that it required his personal attention to get us back Online.

Thanks Andy for the over the top efforts during the systems restoration.

We appreciate your diligence and attention to detail.

I lost a Cisco VOIP server this week. Fortunately, I have a backup server and mirrored drives. Perhaps bmwlt.com should look into this. I thought it was already in place though . . . guess not.

It all takes Money & Time.

No shortage of Time, and all of it is volunteered.

If the Hardware Fairy were to present us with the needed redundant hardware, Co-location space and network circuits; this site could be fully redundant as well.

It's all possible if the $$ were there.

Thanks to all involved in getting the site back up and running. It's not easy when the walls cave in. Your efforts are appreciated.

I certainly appreciate it!

It was certainly nerve rattling for just the members to lose a hobby for a few days, I can just imagine how difficult it was for Andy!

I know that this is a volunteer run effort, so understandable that it could take quite a while to recover from a disaster.

I was certainly worried that we might lose something from all the in depth data available since it looked for a while that multiple disks were in jeopardy. I was fervently hoping that there was a good backup procedure in place.

Looks like it all survived intact, so HATS OFF and a big salute to everyone involved, especially ANDY!

Thanks for all the flowers here guys. But in all honesty I could not have done it would not Scott have volunteered many, many hours being our contact in front of the server.

Now, the way our environment is set up this should have been a non-event from the beginning, but as you all know, you can't make any deals with Murphy.

Anyways, we are working and trying to find way in order to put plans into action that this does not happen again, and in a perfect world this would not have happened. But then there are those pesky HW suppliers, that want money for their servers, and the the colo that wants money for their power and bandwidth, and the ... and the ... in short we are looking into what we can do to prevent this from happening again.

Now a public "THANK YOU SCOTT" for all those hours being my 2000 mile long "screw driver".

Thanks to all involved for the effort it takes to keep this site going. It has been a fantastic resource for me the past 2 years since we joined the LT family.

To everyone else: There are "opportunities" to help with that redundant hardware issue discussed above. http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/subscriptions.php?

Roughly, what kind of hardware is required, what levels of bandwidth and filesize is required, what $$ (monthly) are required to keep the gears rotating?

Andy,

Thanks a lot. There was really something missing in my daily routine with the site down.

I am so glad that I did not get around to moving Emily's e-mail over. If she would have been without e-mail for a week I would never have heard the end of it...

We got her domain on Yahoo going again, it had missed some updates since she had not used it for almost 2 years.

Thanks again!!!

Andy,
Thanks for all your work getting the site back up. I don't post very much, but I really missed all of the good comments. Being with out the site for so long even made me send money as soon as it came back up.

Thanks again.

Here is my daily infusion back! These last few days I had a monkey on my back and had to go through a whole tank to think straight again.

Thanks guys! Your diligent work is mucho appreciated.

Now, I don't know about everyone else, but I was totally lost when this site crashed! I work graveyards and I'll wait until the radio dies down a little then sneak onto my tactically concealed PC and get my "hit" of LT. I went into LT withdrawals bad!

Andy, how much bling do we need to replace, upgrade and backup our little site to ensure that we are fully protected against future failure?

I would sure pitch in toward making this happen! I hope everybody else that enjoys this site even half as much as I do would also. I'm backing my talk with $100 via PayPal right now. Anyone else?
