Hello all, I'm in the market for a gps system for the LT and need some advice on model, options, software the whole thing.I don't need or what a lot of options. Also would be interested in a used unit.
ThanksHowdy Ricky,

If you have a comm system on your LT and you want the GPS right now, I would recommend the NAV II, or NAV III. The wiring for power and audio output is made for the LT...($60 for a harness if the unit is from a BMW other than an LT)

If you can wait, it seems BMW is going to go to the Zumo as a basis for the next NAV unit and so will, or at least should, be providing wiring harnesses to connect them to the comm unit.

If audio directions are not important, I like the Zumo. It's Garmin's choice for motorcycle applications.

Note, if you don't have a comm system you could use a Blue Tooth solution for audio on the Garmin units.

ThanksYou may want to contact Tony (deputy5211) as I think he wants to sell the NAV system that came with his latest LT acquisition.

I will be happy to supply all the information you need.

Buy a Zumo 550.

There you go.

Also look at this forum and get a feel for the people and the support. Beware that Forums are magnets for problems- regardless of the brand.

Garmin is the way to go, either the StreetPilot 2xxx series or the Zumo. If you search eBay you'll find a number of places that sell factor refurbished units with all of the software, accessories, full warranty, etc., but at a fraction of retail. I got my 2610 that way for $395 vs. $860 (retail at the time).

I purchased a BMW System III in January and I cannot believe how much I LOVE it!! I was always a map kind of guy but gps units are really cool. They take any navagation stress out of travel. Also very helpful with gas, hotels and food choices. I have a mount for my LT, GS and it also works on the dash of any car. For car use it will talk to you which is neat. When I go bluetooth someday, it will speak to me on the bike as well. Get one, you'll be glad you did.
