I bought two Arai Signet GTR helmets (full face) in Feb/2003 and have been experiencing trouble with the black rubber trim along the bottom of the helmet coming un-glued. I have attempted to re-glue the trim piece several times and it never seem to hold.
I then contacted Arai and they sent me the following:
Arai 9/21/2007
Bill There was a batch of trim made with too much petroleum in it so it`s actually the trim and not the glue that is the problem. You can send the helmets to us in our Pa. location and we will replace the trim under warranty. If it is just the front trims, I can send them out and you would need to use an epoxy that is safe on plastic and fiberglass (3M, Dupont, etc.) but we prefer that the helmets come in for us to do the repair. If you want to send the helmets in please let me know and I will give you the address and an RGA (return good auth) number to ship to. Please advise. Kathy
I just thought I would post this information in the event that any others are/were having the same problems. I plan on sending both helmets back this winter. I believe there is a five year warranty on the helmets, so they seem be standing behind there product.

I had the same problem, but also the chin/wind guard fell-out, and the shield wouldn't stay up.

I sent email to corporate after trying to get service through the local dealer. The corporate office sent me an RGA # and I sent the helmet in at my cost.... They fixed the problems and sent the helmet back at their cost...

The helmet was/is 3 years old.

Mine was approaching 5 years old with several issues:

1. Chin pieces falling out
2. Trim coming unglued
3. cracked vent on top (my fault)
4. side retainer broken

They fixed it all :thumb: but still it's my last Arai after being a lifelong customer.

Quite simply there are much safer helmets out there now for a lot less dough...

Yep, read the ENTIRE article when you have time and see if you don't agree...

" The stiffest helmets in the Big Drop test, the Arai Tracker GTs, hit our hypothetical head with an average of 243 peak Gs. The softest helmets, the Z1R ZRP-1s, bonked the noggin with an average of 176 peak Gs."

My rubber strip came off also and I used a two part epoxy and it is good as new.

My 5 yr old GTR lost the trim in the last rain storm. It's too old to bother with the repair now. Looks like a Profile is in my future.

Now the problem is where are you gonna hang them trees? ;)

Hard to believe that cheaper is actually better - goes against just about everything I ever learned.

Dammed good article......dammed good!! We should all e-mail that article to Arai and Shoei with a sticky note "This is why I won't be buying anymore of your helmets!!"

Many of us study the designs of helmets and seek the best.

Too bad about the "no helmet gang."

I'm now wearing the HJC AC-12 carbon and I love it. Ventilation is amazing. Hope I never whack it on a hard object.

Thanks for the info, Bill. I have a top of the line Arai that is over a year old now. Hopefully will not suffer the same prob's. But, I'll BOLO.

Is the replica available in the big and fat-head size--like the Arai?

Great article, Ron! WOW! Don't I feel like a F'G MORON for spending $500 on a top line Arai?! OK, OK, I was a moron long before--BUT that is another topic!
