I recently bought a 2005 R1200RT with Autocom and stock stereo. Between the time I bought it an picked it up (A long way from home), the stereo stopped working.
I had the Autocom rebuilt because the Autocom dealer said it was wired into the stereo rather than the speakers. Still no music!
The Autocom dealer blamed the BMW stereo unit and says its not outputting any sound. You can select a station or a track btu you cannot get any sound.
I'm down 200Euros and the next is the local BMW dealer, which costs Euros 200 each time they take off the fairing. And a new unit isn't available on the BMW parts list.
Any ideas what to do next? (I am in touch with the seller who may help out but if I have a dud stereo it looks liek I wont be able to get one.).

I don't have an Autocom on my RT (yet), but I did nearly buy a used 2007 that had one wired into the BMW radio. Did you check the fader control to see if moving the audio to the front redirects sound output to the fairing speakers? If you get sound that way, it sounds like the Autocom connection is suspect, not the radio unit. Good luck!

EffJay thanks it worked! (Boy do I feel like a dork!)
I turned it on, pressed the "Ton" button for tone, and played around with the switches. I think it said "Speaker Off" but anyway whatever I pressed out came U2 blaring at me!
Many thanks you have saved me a pretty penny and more embarrassment!
