He's actually lucky. He could have gone over that wall.

He didn't seem top be going that fast, although he was under acceleration. He was very close to the side of the road and may have hit some sand or gravel. Wonder what happened to him? I'd be very surprised if that hit didn't bend the frame and total the bike.

Just watched it again. I don't think he ever hit the brakes.

I agree with Dan. I would also suggest that he ( she ?) was too close to the side of the road when hitting the throttle

I saw this one before. I think it was from a bike magazine test ride.
He obviously spun the rear while accelerating, and then panicked. You can see that he's regained traction, but just focused on the wall and didn't try to make the turn. That looked like it hurt, but good thing he didn't go over the wall and drop down the other side. At least he was wearing all the gear.

This video went around our Ninja forum earlier this year. I have the full-sized video clip that also plays in slow-motion for the second half so it's a lot easier to see what happens. He's riding a Kaw ZZR1100 . . . which is the Euro version of my Kaw ZX-11. From what we could gather, he underestimated the ZZR's power and thought he would accelerate a leetle bit. You can see him down-shift and take off. It's when he shifts again, that's when the trouble starts. I think the back wheel spins a little, he releases the throttle and goes into a mini tank-slapper. Obviously being a rookie, instead of simply counter-steering and negotiating the slight curve...he freezes up and runs straight into the bridge. The only two things he did right was to be geared-up, and to NOT going over the wall. IIRC, I believe his plate is a temp tag. Not a nice way to treat your brand-new bike! http://users.pandora.be/eforum/emoticons4u/sad/1004.gif He really picked a bad place to experiment with the throttle on a ZZR1100!
