I don't see the correlation between the nooses and this particular incident, though. Sounds like a white racist got thoroughly beat upon, and nearly killed, by a group of black racists. Either way, I smell racism on both sides.

The "Jena 6" attack took place on 4 December 2006 at the high school. During a fight that broke out in the lunchroom between a white student and a black student, the white student was hit from behind, knocked out, then set upon by other black students who proceeded to kick and stomp his "lifeless" body as he lay unconscious on the floor. The victim, Justin Barker, spent about three hours in an emergency room being treated for injuries to his head and face.

That said, the jumping in and kicking and stomping of an unconscious victim should be punished to the maximum extent.

The tree was considered "the white tree", and it's removal would have sent a strong message IMO. Is that the only step that should have been taken at that point? Of course not, my thinking is not that narrow, and you know that.

One kid got beat up by a group of kids. How do you read that he's a racist into that??

I didn't read that much of the article, just the quote you posted. Sounds like the kid got an ass whoopin' that he deserved. Prosecuting these six kids is pretty damn stupid...

I felt the same way when I immegrated to this country,
I was in for a rude awakening.
And no I don't "judge" people for the color of their skin.
I judge them by their actions
and I'm not "naive" enough to not notice.

True, I am at the moment, but I lived the first 32 years of my life there. And I'll go back in a few more years. Growing up in it (it = around ignorant bigots) led to my disdain of that type of attitude.

It sorts demonstrates how equal we are-- a small percentage of undeveloped brains encased, in any skin color, resort to violence against people they don't like or are afraid of.

Many times I wonder if the right to vote should start at the average age when our brains are fully formed, around 26 years old.
