I realize that the members of this board are, probably, higher up the food chain than most, but if money were no object, and given the fact that there isn't one bike that has it all, which two bikes would be in your stable ? My choices would be a GS and an RT.

My LT and a Boss Hoss. I'm an old chevy gearhead. They sound the best of all bikes. IMHO. If you've ever ridden one you understand. Why limit it to 2 bikes? I would like a dual sport bike for me and an LT trike for her too. You said I could spend all the $$

We were talking at our ride to eat today about a bike for when we get old and feeble. Imagine a GT with two wheels up front like the Piagio MP3. They lock at stop and unlock when moving so you can still lean and don't have to worry about holding it up.

I have a 1200GS and my LT as well as a couple of dirt bikes. Have all the bases covered and I think it's a good combination.
If money were no object I would add a new HD StreetGlide in blue:)

Since I have ridden many bikes, I guess my choices would be:
An LT and a new GT..

The LT and an FJR...oh..wait...
Seriously, if money was no object (in order of need)
Full Blown Tourer
Sport Tourer
Dual Sport (GSA)
Naked Hooligan Bike (Speed Triple, Tuono)
Power Cruiser (M109R or such)
Since the 'vette ain't going outside, I only have room for two, and the Dual Sport maybe moving up a notch or two soon.

Oh, I love it when a "Freudian Slip" happens.... :D A FJR'er lists a "Sport Tourer" as something he wants if money is no object! :p

I love the Pavlovian response the letters F J R brings from a couple of you guys. In your haste to throw barbs at me, did you miss the connection between the LT and #1 on the list?

I change as time goes past, but always have the bikes I want.
At this point it would be the GS and LT, I have, if I had to limit it down to 2.
That may change as I venture deeper into the woods on the GS. To a GS and KLR or KTM

The first would be easy...my LT, but it would be a toss up between a GT and the Kaw. After seeing that new Kaw at CCR I could be swayed pretty easy to that side of the fence.

An LT for the two-up, long distance touring capabilities, an MV Agusta F4 for the beauty and see how many tickets I can get factor and if money were no object why limit to two... so I would add a BMW F650 for a combination of decent off-road capability.

If I had all the money and could afford whatever I wanted it would be the LT for two up touring and the Triumph Rocket III. And a GSA if we can have 3. Thanks for listening.

Naw Dave...didn't miss it at all. Just wanted to yank your chain. I saw two FJR's on the Blue Ridge Parkway today -- great looking bikes -- from the rear view mirror's perspective anyway! :histerica
All in fun. ;) And I know...you can give it was well as you can take it!

I forgot to add a old panhead with a long a$$ springer front end on a rigid frame in pearl white paint. (my first street bike) I was young and could ride it to california. now I wish I still had it. Maybe my next bike for nutin" but fun and image.
P.S I won't wear no stinkin' helmet while ridin' the pan.

This bike with all the farkles. There's got to be a few thousand (aka Joe's bike)Aw shucks! Thanks Neil! :)
To add to my GT, I'd go with Randy's GSA.
But then again, if money were no object, why would I stop at just two bikes?!?!
Here ya go:
My GT
A GSA
An R1
An H-D Fatboy
An LT
A ZX-14
A 1098, with all the carbon fibre goodies of course
A Royal Enfield
A Ural
A late 70s naked GoldWing
A 1952 Vincent Black Lightning
A '69 Honda 750 Four
Anybody got about $160,000 that they want to donate to a worthy cause? :p

If money were no object;
I think my main bike would be the LT but I think I would buy a new one every year and would have it decked out with every whistle and bell I (and you) could think of.
My personal second would be a GS. Of corse it would also be set up for an around the world trip in comfort at a moment's notice.
Since my wife rides and if money was no object(and I got to choose her bikes);
I would keep her R1200C and get her an LT with a Hannigan sidecar so our son can travel with us. If she had her choice I think she would go for a GS and a Motoguzzi.
I do like the Harley Street Glide. If I bought one the windshield would have to be more than 3" and the seat have a backrest. I love the ultra classic but the LT is so much better.
I like Goldwings but I think I have to wait another 15 years to be in their demographic. Patti likes the Rune and I think I would like to take it for a spin also.
If we are still in fantasy land I would like a Ural w/ sidecar to go to places where no other bike would go.
I have never ridden any Triunph's and would like to experience them before I made my final "if money were no object" choice.
If the speed limit was no object then I would want a Hayabusa to cut my commute in half but since there is no chance in hell that would happen the LT is as much of a sport bike that I would ever need.
I think I would conceder a R1200RT since most of my riding is 1 up but I still like the LT better.
I like the antique bikes also and I would love to have a NSU in memory of a good friend.
My beginning was with Japanese bikes and I feel they have some good aspects. The Kawasaki Concourse and the Yamaha Royal Star were in consideration when I bought my current bike but I could not road test either so my quest went further.
I have to give some credit to the bike that got me here. A friend gave me a Yamaha Vision. After several years of not having a bike I accepted the offer. While working on the project my wife became interested in riding. Soon after we had 3 Visions. Great bikes, incredible value and an awesome support network at www.ridersofvision.net .
Unfortunately I can't decide on my perfect bike but I am looking forward to the years ahead looking for it.

My LT and my '74 Bonnie - if I could have 3, I'd go for a 1200 GS (not a GSA).
