A few weeks ago I posted about my worsening slipping of the clutch on my 03. So into the shop it went. (Cylecraft Motorcycles in West Milford NJ...former head mechanic at GS BMW...closed)
Since I was ready for the 24k service he did all the work while I was off traveling on business.
As suspected, the slave had leaked through into the clutch housing so it was major surgery to replace it all. I didn't realize how poorly the clutch was performing until I compare it with my ride home today. Wow!

I paid $1375. for the new slave, clutch and 24k service. I think this is a decent price for this work. He charged me for 14 hours of labor.

John (the owner) has done many of these slave cylinders but had never heard of drilling the hole in the mount. He drilled mine and will be doing it on all future slave replacements.

Even after parting with the cash, I still love this machine!

Bob,

That sounds like a very good price for all the work done.

Good Luck,
Kevin

Pete,
No, I didn't replace any other seals. John's advice was to replace other seals only if they showed signs of leakage. He said that heat is the main enemy of these seals and since I had only 23K on the bike he would only replace them if they showed signs of failure.

He also said that he detected some play in the final drive bearing so I'll need to keep an eye on that. The magnet was clean, though.

Even though I don't have a dealership that is close by (by my standards) I do have an excellent mechanic a few miles up the street. I trust his judgement.
