Hey All;

Question for the high mileage guys. I have 80000 miles on my beauty.
First thing, I have had no issues at all. Now. The manual says the clutch fluid level goes up as it wears, fine. Have you guys with no other clutch issues, waited till the clutch slips or is there a level on the master cylinder that says ok its time for a clutch. I will probably wait till 100000 next year to change it but only if its needs it. I dont need to hear about the slave, Im one of the 90% that has had no issues with anything on this machine. Just wondering.
If it aint broke dont mess with it. Except regular PMs.
Thanks all.

Wow Zeke, that is awesome. What I don't understand, from a mechanical point, is how does the fluid level RISE as the clutch wears? :confused: Someone chime in?

The clutch spring pushes the slave cylinder in as the clutch disc gets thinner, so the fluid level goes up.
My 99 had 90,000 miles on it and was .015 thinner than the new disc that I put in because it was apart.

The clutch fluid, just like brake fluid, needs to be replaced at regular intervals, and for the same reason, moisture gets in it.
As far as the clutch plate itself, a lot depends on your driving habits and circumstances.
It would be nice to have an easy way to measure the thickness of the clutch without a disassembly...Hey All;
