FYI...

Imagine my surprise..... I was searching the internet for a phone holder for my iPhone. I came across a posting on t MAC site about how the iPhone worked with DICE. I ran out to the garage and quickly unplugged my iPod and plugged in my iPhone. Up came a message on the iPhone that "this device may not work with the iPod" "Do you want to turn on Airplane mode to prevent any inference...." I selected "NO".

Turned on my CD player, and the iPhone played the iPod thru my BC2 Comm System. You lose the option of seeing the Playlist/song titles. When a call comes into your iPhone, it rings thru your speakers/headset.

Couldn't answer the call. But at least the phone is charging in my side case and I know if someone called. The Mac user did state that he was using a Motorola's T305 Bluetooth visor mount speaker phone to answer incoming calls.

I can't imagine why the iPhone wouldn't work with any device made for an iPod. Same port, same protocols, etc., etc...

Couldn't answer the call.I guess that's what you call taking the "phone" outta iPhone. :D

For me, I really don't see an iPhone ever taking the place of an iPod. At least, not until they give the iPhone at least 60GBs of memory. But even still, I am looking at the iPhone very closely.

I'm going to try to figure a way to get my iphone wired to my dice but from the dash so I can more easily manipulate it....not sure the wires are long enough.... I will report back. I'd like to see my navigation program pipe in directions while itunes is running in the background.

Joe... I waited 4 years to upgrade and change carriers..... OMG :eek2:

For 4 years I had a windows based Palm Treo.... to this day, still more expensive than my 32 gig 3GS iphone......
I am not easily impressed.... but this thing is the single most genius invention in my lifetime....... Whats even better is that there are ways to get all the software and music (of course) for free.... Not that I would ever do so.... :histerica but all I can say is DO IT!

I'll help you with the software stuff too.
