When are people going to learn that machines like this are NOT safe outside the racetrack? Heck some of them aren't even safe there, but at least it's a more controlled environment.
Do you remember seeing that drag CAR careening out of control when some numbnuts said, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool to do a full burn-out in the PARADE!"?
Crashed right through the people!
DUH...

By his own admission he isn't the driver of this beast.
You always get into trouble when you're showing off.
Glad he wasn't killed. That thing sure got gone, didn't it.

Wonder how deceleration tolerant the "most powerful" batteries are?
Bet he got charge out of it... shocking... spakie!

He clearly showed some bad judgment. The location, the gear, and knowing he didn't have the experience. I hope he recovers quickly. I'm sure he'll not make that mistake again.
The bike sure looks cool. I hope he continues to develop it. It'd be a shame to see all his hard work come to a halt over this.

Gear? What gear!? No helmet, the guy was wearing street clothes! Doing a burnout on the fastest bike in the world? What a moron. Darwin is going to take care of this guy in a real hurry if he doesn't shape up. Pretty amazing motorcycle though.

"First off, I’m just a bit scraped up. Emabarrassed of course. I had not intended the bike to move in the soapy water, just spin the tire.
Got it slowed down to about 20 mph. Front wheel is bent, as are front forks. Cowling is not nearly as pretty as it was.
Battery box took a hit from the front wheel. Almost certainly, some cells were shorted. No smoke. No fire. Ultra safe cells. Had these been anything but A123 Systems Nano-phosphate cells, shorts would have caused a serious fire.
No major damage. We will have is fixed in short order.
Yes, I am an idiot. :-/"

Him laying on the pavement was enough embarassment...I think his own "policies" may get adjusted.

Give him credit for admitting how dumb that was. He won't try that stunt again with out some gear on...

And now for the "word of the day". Prescient (adj) Preh - shent: perceiving the significance of events before they occur.
"You know, you shouldn't say something like that, I've seen someone killed on a dragster.
It's the most dangerous motorcycle in the world."
What he said right before his little trip - but he did do 0-60 in .97 seconds! :D
He is extremely lucky he wasn't seriously injured.
and... I've got to admit I laughed pretty hard when the first scene you see after the crash is him laying flat on his back and completely spread eagle on the pavement. I though he was joking around. Ibuprofen is now his best friend. :thumb:

How is doing a burn-out relative to proving the scientific engineering advancements and quickness of the bike?
Thank goodness this guy isn't in-charge of NASA; he'd be using the space shuttle as a Bed & Breakfast when it's parked at Cape Canaveral.
:thumb: Hope someone has enough brains to pull this boneheads funding.
I'm GLAD he survived to regret his mistake!

Aww give him a break! The sooner we're all riding around on electric bikes the better. He's at the vanguard of development, so I'd like to see his work continue while he's still alive. Just keep him away from the press. He got just a bit too giddy with thoughts of fame and celebrity.

I'd like to say, "Wow, was that stupid! I'd never do anything like that." But then I think about some of the stuff I have done both on motorcycle and off in my life and realize I could have ended up just like that.
Glad he wasn't badly hurt.
I'm really interested in battery technology. It seems like everything I do these days depends on batteries. Including typing this message on laptop connected to a WiFi hotspot. I hope he and others like him keep pushing the limits. It makes things better for all of us.
