Anybody out there familiar with troubleshooting the CD player/changer on the K12LTs?? Mine (00 Model) will not play, and will not eject the CD magazine in the changer in the R saddlebag, nor will it eject the CD from the aux player up front. When I power it up, I get the "TR" indication, for the aux player, and another push of the CD button gives me "NO DISC" indication for the changer, and I know full well there are discs in there. When I push the "eject" button on the changer, I can hear a little whine as though it's trying, but nothing happens. There were occasions previous to this where the thing would not play, but after a short ride, it always started up...but never before did it refuse to play, at all, or eject the CD or the CD magazine.
The BMW shop manual is worthless for any kind of troubleshooting on this system.
Anybody else ever have this problem?

It’s odd you have a single cd up front as the ‘00’s came with a cassette. Did you change it out? The TR is for traffic radio. You’ll get a “no disk” if the magazine is loaded upside down (found that out when I first had mine). Have you tried ejecting it with the button on the changer and trying to help the magazine along?

Yes, the bike originally had the cassette player up front, but I had some "issures" with radio and CD quality, and the entire radio unit was replaced under warranty. I can't remember if the cassette player system was not available or what, but it was replaced with the single CD player. (the "old" BMW Motorraad of STL) which I preferred anyway.
It appears there is a CD in the play position, out of the magazine, so, apparently, the failure of the unit to retract the CD also prevents the magazine from ejecting. I did have a small hook/pick tool which I tried to give a small assist with, but, no luck. On the aux player up front, the slot is pretty small, I hate to go grubbing around in there and mess something up.
I'm wondering now if there are two distinct problems or is it something common to both units.
All the radio functions work normally, so far. I did have the enitire radio/aux CD unit out a couple days ago, thinking the fogging in the display was on the inside....was not, of course, it was on the outside and a little denatured alcohol cleaned it right up. (dang, I shudda ckd the forums first!!!) And I'm thinking...did I forget to connect something??? But, there is power to both units, the little light is on on the aux, and the changer makes the little whine when it tries to work, but....for now, I'm stumped.

Easy to get the head unit back. Disconnect the multiplug from the CD changer end. Then the changer will not influence it. Take the changer out physically and deal with it.

I've had to remove the CD player (on my 525i, but the same unit), remove the 4 screws that hold the top and bottom halves together, remove the top and find the larger of the white plastic gears, with your finger turn the gear and the CD will back out (very slowly) of the play position.
I was then able to use the player for a while after that, but removing it a couple of times caused me to purchase a new unit. HTH

OK, problem solved...for now anyway. Took the 6 disc changer out of the R saddlebag, took the cover off, plugged the connectors back in, powered 'er up and gave the gears and linkages a little assist with a small screwdriver, bing, everything now seems normal again. Including the fwd (aux) cd player. I cycled all the cds thru, played a # of different tracks, let them cycle thru on their own, ejected the magazine, restarted, all ok.
Thanks, Jerry P, for the tip.
